Burnaby-Central of course was another example of a Red waving washing over the NDP candidate, in this case Jagmeet Singh.

The problem with strategic voting is you never know how others are going to vote. Sure, the NDP lost some ridings to the Conservatives because the Liberal vote went up, but in others the Liberals stole NDP ridings -- see New Westminster, Victoria, Esquimalt. Depends on the size of the wave.

It is hard to separate the proposal from the politics. The CPC has been suspicious about the civil service and its supposedly liberal bias going back to the Harper era and the CPC draws much more support from high school and college graduates than university graduates.

I drove across BC today and the price of gas varied by more than 40 cents, from $1.75 in Abbotsford to $1.33 in Sorrento. I have never seen such a huge variation in price. Maybe it is legitimate or maybe it’s related to the repeal of the carbon tax 🤷‍♂️

In the BC Liberal Party the factions agreed to focus on pro-business policies and not to raise divisive social issues. But some members of the BCCP are there precisely to litigate these social issues. The old social contract of the centre right coalition is broken.
