I consider myself fortunate to have been following David Peterson’s work since the first #MouseGuard, but that doesn’t make me any less in awe when I see his new projects.

If you'd have told me in 2015 that ROLLING STONE would have the most brutally honest news coverage of the 2025 inauguration, I never would've believed you. But here we are.

When I was reading β€œBacking into Forward” 12 years ago, I emailed him at the encouragement of a mentor. He responded and we had several exchanges. Sometimes, when we slow down enough the universe gives us very cool gifts like that. #julesfeiffer

Jules Feiffer, Acerbic Cartoonist, Writer and Much Else, Dies at 95

Jules Feiffer was a scholar, a writer and a cartoonist. You can't get a better start than as assistant to Will Eisner and Feiffer became a force in satire and sequential art. For me, his book "The Great Comic Book Heroes" remains a holy text.

RIP.

A multi-panel cartoon illustrated by a crowd of heads which look worried, then angry, then resigned, and end up all looking like Richard Nixon. The text reads:

Once there was a people who discovered their leader had no values, no morals, and no ethics.

And they said: "Someone should do something to get rid of him."

But no one did.

So they said: "The right people should get rid of him."

But no right people could be found.

So they said: "The leadership should get rid of him."

But the leadership excused itself.

So they said: "The law should take care of him."

But no law came forward.

So they said: "We're tired of hearing about it. Time will take care of him."

And after a time many of the people died.

And those left said: "What did he do so bad in the first place?"

"Beats me. He is exactly like the rest of us."

Woke to the sad news we've lost Jules Feiffer just a few days before his 96th birthday. I can think of no better way to honor his passing than by sharing this cartoon from half a century ago which described a different president, who I thought back then was the worst we'd ever see. I was wrong. RIP

RIP Jules Feiffer: Cartoonist, writer, screenwriter, historian... renaissance man. As a kid, I must've checked this book out of the library like 500 times.

One thing before tomorrow:

Use your local libraries.

Get your card.

Borrow books, manga, films, audios, ebooks.

Recommend titles for purchase (usually online).

Attend promoted activities.

Fill out those "How are we doing?" questionnaires.

Tell your kids that libraries are good.

They are.

The Biden administration announced new protections for 1.3 million acres in the North Slope of Alaska, a final effort to shield it from oil companies eager to drill in the ecologically sensitive Arctic environment. nyti.ms/4jvm1Uu
