Developmental editing my book, Bondage of Magics, right now. Progress is so satisfying. More than ever, this part of the process is when you watch the story take its final shape. Especially early on, when you do a lot of re-aligning for why characters are where they are and do what they do.

Best writing advice I got from a friend was to write people completely different from me. When making a character, instead of starting with straight white men, I start with gay black women, and my inherent biases shift all the characters in my direction, resulting in a scatter plot of a cast.

Went out collecting signatures for a referendum petition on the atrocious HB267 law that passed in Utah recently. They're trying to bust our unions, and they'll come for yours too if you let 'em.

Went to a protest a few days back. Utah legislators - do your jobs! Stop embarrassing us and all the other red states.

Found out that TWENTY emails is considered a lot to politicians on an issue.

I usually did 2 a month last year while I was publishing at a fast pace. I experimented with lots of lengths and formats, and I think the best emails are brisk, to the point, and personable.

Oooh! What's the inciting incident?

I would say it's less of a seasonal thing and more of an in-between-projects thing. Inertia after finishing something is dangerous!
