yes and no. a more intelligent (and resource saving mode) would be for car companies in China, US, Europe, Japan (etc) to come up with a common architecture -- the way USB-C chargers were enforced in EU -- and then install their own OEM systems. ideally, some manufacturers wd even go open source!
