"This promise of an AI future, is really just a collective anxiety that wealthy people have about how well they're gonna be able to control us in the future."

- @tressiemcphd.bsky.social with an absolute mic drop moment about AI bullshit.

Incredible words.
Listen to all of it!

I'm surprised I haven't seen comment on how it's possible they had the signage prepared already if the vote yesterday was legitimate. Do people not understand that signs like this don't get made overnight?

Dear publishers, please stop the nonsense of using a sans serif font for digital books. Not only is it harder to read longform sans serif text, it makes the author seem unserious. It's really not fair to anyone.

Fan of anyone who can use Schitt's Creek gifs so perfectly, but also very good information.

Does Bessent think we are too dumb to know that asbestos and mold require extra care during demo? Or does he not know how anything works? Or is he so bankrupt of moral integrity?

Yep, despite the founders believing the greatest power should reside with Congress. They never imagined Congress willingly giving up its power.

Fair enough. What about Cornish hens with an apple chutney?

Pork chops and applesauce.

I don't know, but it just kind of feels like the Bush family owes us something more than their complete silence right now. They worked so hard to dominate politics, and now no leadership at all? It's like it was only ever self interest. Please clap.

He's proud of a band of racist insurrections who tried to destroy the United States? Yeah, that checks out.

In Patriarchy No One Can Hear You Scream: Rebecca Solnit on Jeffrey Epstein and the Silencing Machine One of my favorite books when I was young was T. H. Okay, but let's be careful with the "Dems won't go" messaging because they do. But also they don't get invited. Harris tried to go on Rogan. Don't pretend that there isn't a ton of media gatekeeping.

Yes, and true, but people haven't paid enough attention to how much John Roberts is responsible for all of this. He actually seems to care about his legacy, so it's beyond time people start making clear history will lay responsibility for all of this on him.

For the record:

The Confederates fought a war against the United States to defend the institution of slavery.

Period.

I keep repeating Justice Roberts is one of the worst SCOTUS chiefs ever, and he will go down in history as a key player in our destruction. He needs more attention for how awful he is.

What happened to American manufacturing? Didn't he say we need to focus on American -made?

(Yes, I know the bribery is the bigger story, but still.)

Yes, one man, but the Republican Party could check him any time. By not, this disaster is owned by the whole party.

Please stop saying the "U.S. military guarantees our freedoms." It doesn't. The Constitution and rule of law guarantee our freedoms. That's why the rule of law is under attack right now.

Also, billionaires, put your money where your claimed patriotism is and stop gap some of this chaos. J.P. Morgan wasn't exactly a nice guy, but he funded the govt. itself when necessary.

I'm wondering how John Roberts is feeling about Citizens United and Shelby v. Holder now and his responsibility for the downfall of the US. He knows he is a villain in the record, right?

Yes, far too often the backlash to Me Too is left out of the conversation, but it's a huge part of why we are here.

I really don't understand the alcohol alternative market. Why does it cost as much as alcohol? You would think they'd sell so much more if the cost was in line with other soft drinks.

A lesson from the TikTok Affair should be that bipartisan efforts to preserve U.S. national security are vulnerable to the incoming president getting bought off and switching sides for his own personal and political benefit. Not great!

Biden stepping down when he did prevented the GOP from focusing their convention on attacking Harris. I think it benefitted her to have a shorter campaign. Not enough, obviously, but I think his timing helped more than hurt.
