Secret account of a dude who dislikes secret accounts. Lifelong progressive, fully committed to the first principles of liberal democracy. The libertarians want to end all the good stuff. “We can’t let the fuckers win.” D. Frum

going to survive this ‘new America’. It’s very possible that our progressive principles will come out ahead if we can forge stronger alliances with Europe & reduce our dependence on a clearly regressive America.

🇨🇦 is a vastly more progressive country than 🇺🇸. What we progressives are getting from this govt is every conceivable chance to remain sovereign & avoid being made into Puerto Rico North. Yes, Carney is focused on building new corporate relationships around the world, bc that’s how our economy is …

politician I’ve seen in my lifetime. It’s become a throwaway phrase, but he truly is playing 4-D chess whilst everyone else is playing checkers.

I’m amazed at the number of people who should know better, slagging Carney re the budget, re his efforts to establish new economic alliances, re this ‘deal’ with AB. There is arguably no one anywhere with a more sophisticated grasp of global economics *and* he’s got more integrity than any…

Danielle Smith, like DFT, is an imbecile. Unlike DFT, she’s not a sadistic sociopath nor does she wield the enormous power that comes with any POTUS. She & her cult just got played. It’ll be a while before she realizes it.

no one, anywhere, better to navigate this clusterf*ck better than Carney. He understands global economics better than anyone, and has established himself across all western democracies as a legitimate, trustworthy leader. He has relationships with the world’s key players no one else in 🇨🇦 has.

It’s stunning how incapable people are of recognizing profound change in the world, & adapting their perspective accordingly. 🇺🇸 is no longer an ally, in any form. That turns the 🇨🇦 reality upside down. Old priorities must take a backseat to establishing ourselves in this new world order. There is …

The entirety of this administration is evil. And as far as they’re concerned, evil is a feature, not a bug.

Opinion | How the Elite Behave When No One Is Watching: Inside the Epstein Emails This power elite was already used to ignoring the powerless. Redeeming a disgraced sex offender was a logical next step.

In @nytopinion.nytimes.com

The Epstein emails “together sketch a devastating epistolary portrait of how our social order functions, and for whom,” Anand Giridharadas writes. “Saying that isn’t extreme. The way this elite operates is.”

Trump essentially said loyalty to the Constitution is punishable by death. Those are dangerous words coming from the President of the United States, but I’m not going to be intimidated.

Despite my rantiness, I’d guess < 5% of households in my town ever use food delivery services. The vast majority don’t do it. So I’m reluctant to blame ‘hyper exploitation’ given that so few have bought. Rather there is a subset of people who’ve decided not to concern themselves with the costs.

rather than walk or drive a few minutes to pick it up. It’s senseless even under good economic circumstances. It made sense during the early days of the pandemic but it’s hard to fathom why folks still do it.

And yet, a cross section of Canadians continue to use services like UberEats/Skip the Dishes. I supplement my retirement income driving for these companies in small town Ontario. I’m amazed at the number of people who will pay close to double to get something inane like coffee or popcorn delivered…

Deal sociopolitics. Over the last 45 yrs they’ve worked tirelessly to return America to a pre-New Deal reality. With DFT 2.666 & Project 2025, they’ve succeeded. If this continues, 0.5% of the population will live in secure gated communities while 95% of us fight for scraps like dogs at a landfill.
