That’s so annoying. It was for me as well up until I tried it again today just randomly and it worked. I couldn’t use it at all for the first two months when it began earlier this year. I have no idea why that is or if they are doing a slow global roll out.

It seems to be geo blocked to searching from international countries - unfortunately it may only be available for searching when searching in Ireland 🤷🏻‍♀️ ☹️

She found her using her original name and the names of her parents that I provided. From that I got information from the day she entered the order right up to her death including photos and the jobs she held - a teacher and a nurse. Her headstone was erected by two of her brothers.

I agree with writing to the order if you know it. All I had was that my grandfather’s sister went to New Zealand after becoming a nun. Someone thought it might be the sisters of mercy order. I looked them up online and found an email address of their archivist who was able to find her.

And with no vaccines or antibiotics it was very common for at least two or three family members and or infants to die early. In that time period TB was rampant, and living conditions were not ideal. Wise to check a 20 year period of births and deaths as it takes that long to have that many children.

I had a similar find and thought that a family had lost 10 children and only had 3 left living. Turns out it actually meant there were 3 living STILL at home with the parents. The others were found on the same census either married or living in as servants.
