Existing and βnear productionβ batteries all balance βcharge speed / energy density / number of cyclesβ. Unless we see all of those, and material costs and price, itβs all just a bit of fluff.

Does anyone know what to expect from Smart Tariffs? Iβm on Cosy, around 14p kWh for parts of the day. Will the suppliers just pocket the 3.5p kWh tax reduction?

Itβs a solution for people who donβt drive and hate EVs.
Weβre starting to get 1MW pillars with two CCS2 plugs on here in Europe, up to 600kW on each plug with dynamic sharing.
As you said, useful for the big trucks, I believe the eActros 600 has a 600kW CCS2 port, some also have 1MW MCS too.

Here in the UK they whine about reducing food production too. However over 2% of our farm land grows ethanol crops, with proved less than 1% of the fuel for ICE cars. The same amount of solar could power all the power for all land transport if they were EVs.

Oh well, we just choose one of the other small affordable EVs here in Europe.

But was it really an engineering marvel? I mean it wasnβt an exoskeleton, they ended up building a frame and either glueing or welding panels to it, those panels ended up rusting easily and were shaped in a way that basically only America could sell them, in most countries you canβt have sharp edges

When I bought my EV last August, I had the choice of 50kWh, 59kWh or 79kWh. I consciously chose the 59kWh due to me experience of my other EV (77kWh). Some people feel the need to drag around 150kg for the 79kWh model, and in different cars some people are dragging around a total of 800-900kg.

Thanks for the article Graeme. Iβm in that number of second hand EVs, purely because they are an absolute bargain. My ID.3 mid spec 59kWh was 91 days old and Β£12,000 off new price. Thatβs a family sized car for what I was paying back in 2015.
So βcheapβ and an excellent car too.

You could start with one of the many grid connections websites. The UK has at least 9 undersea connections to Europe (more are being built) and many dozens of connections from the windfarms to land. Whereas we only have two gas pipelines.
There is even a link in the channel tunnel, no ruskies there

Thatβs true for many, but here in the UK there is a nationwide emergency service available for mis fuelled cars.
In addition, itβs down to luck too, my local filling station obviously did something wrong, as four cars failed almost immediately after filling there, luckily I didnβt use it that day.
