Interesting question, especially when examined within the broader geopolitical/geo-economic context of the Horn of Africa & Red Sea.

What agency does, what you so aptly describe as, a politically/economically isolated entity have in rebuffing the advances of covetous/unchecked political interests?

Looks, to me, like an elderly gentleman who becomes increasingly startled/bewildered. One can only hope that he is alright after taking such a tumble.

Photo of a statue of Mother Julian by sculptor David Holgate at the West Porch of Norwich Cathedral.
"All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well,” is a quote from her manuscript, Revelations of Divine Love - which is widely considered to be the earliest surviving English-language works attributed to a woman.
She was a contemporary of John Wyclif, Geoffrey Chaucer, William Langland - a Speculative Theologian, Writer, Anchoress (1343–1416).

Film still of actor Omar Sharif, taken on the set of the movie, Doctor Zhivago. Yuri Zhivago, a physician and poet, stands behind a microscope - gazing, as he often does, into the distance. Based on the Nobel Prize-winning novel by Boris Pasternak which covers the years prior to, during, and after the Russian Revolution.

Why Are Public Restrooms Still So Rare? (Published 2023) Cities in the U.S. and elsewhere have made strides, but challenges remain.

It seems the tide of public opinion on this issue has turned, since the introduction of their 2018 open-door policy.

This raises 2 questions: Why include bathrooms in the new code of conduct? Why does the US have only β€œeight public restrooms per 100,000 people?”

Poem by Audre Lorde titled Today is Not the Day from β€œThe Marvelous Arithmetics of Distance 1987-1992” collection.

I can't just sit here
staring death in her face
blinking and asking for a new name
By which to greet her
I am not afraid to say
unembellished
I am dying
but i do not want to do it
looking the other way
Today is not the day.
It could be
But it is not.
Today is today...
I dare not tremble for them
Only pray laughter comes often enough To soften the edge.

It is alleged to have sorted lawmakers into Liberals/Conservatives in preparation of Martial Law - should impeachment proceedings against former President Park fail, leading to widespread unrest

Professor Jang, thank you for sharing this insightful summary. What impact, if any, do you think antecedents to this declaration of Martial Law may have on the current President’s ability to use the military to curb the powers of lawmakers?

I suspect that this may have something to do with Japan having a more collectivist society. Had this occurred in the more individualistic Western societies, the headline might very well have been to do with that of an executive’s pay rise, despite such happenings.

I think this one may have to do with child-resistant packaging requirements for coin/button cell battery packages due to ingestion hazard. Please refer to Reese’s Law for more information.

Sudan civil war: Nowhere else on Earth are so many children on the run The BBC's Lyse Doucet writes about the horrific effects of the 19-month civil war in Sudan.

β€œSudanese orphan abandoned twice, and displaced twice in his country's grievous war - one of nearly five million Sudanese children who have lost almost everything as they are pushed from one place to the next in what is now the world's worst humanitarian crisis.”

Wish I had the expertise to try to better understand how a general consensus amongst medical professionals like that of the mysterious brain illness case goes unchallenged for so long. Is it due to lack of clinical curiosity, confirmation/anchoring bias, overreliance on heuristics…?
