Don’t take my word for itβ€”ask Betsy DeVos. Congress is about to roll out a tax shelter scheme to fund school vouchers for wealthy kids already in private school.

It would force vouchers into every state.

And they’re going to cut Medicaid for families everywhere to pay for it.

Target made its choiceβ€”and so have Black consumers.

The National Black Church Initiative isn’t playing PR games. No more performative marketing while treating Black communities like disposable income streams.

I have nothing to do with this org, but it is telling.

This is why we need to properly fund our schools, but school vouchers continue to make that impossible. Anyone that has voted for a republican in the last 35 yrs is directly responsible for it.

Wisconsin's adventures with line-item vetoes Laws are like sausages...

Democratic Governor Tony Evers has successfully increased school funding for the next 400 YEARS in Wisconsin by crossing out a few numbers in a bill to change it from β€œ2024–25” to β€œ2425.”

The state Supreme Court just upheld his right to do so.

I don’t think it’s because the supreme courts is tired of Trump. I think the Supreme Court realizes other judges are stepping up and trying to hold them accountable. Basically if they won’t do something we will.

Scoop: Leaked PDF outlines major HHS restructuring proposal (authenticity now confirmed). "The safety nets are being blown up right and left." Floated cuts include some programs mandated by Congress.

β€œThe stuff the American public has lost alreadyβ€”and they didn’t even know they had itβ€”is impossible for most people to understand. The safety nets are being blown up right and left,” the source said. β€œThey’ve disappeared.”

Mark Zuckerberg defends Meta in court against monopoly claims In Zuckerberg's second day of testifying in the federal antitrust trial, he defended Meta's acquisitions of Instagram and WhatsApp. The U.S. government wants Meta to bust up the two companies.

How about this going on right now also

Four R senators and four R House members could announce they're caucusing with the Dems for now, and will vote for Schumer for Majority Leader and Jeffries for Speaker, because the threat to the rule of law is dire. Meanwhile, they'll work with Democrats to construct guardrails against dictatorship.

I wonder how the Supreme Court feels about granting Donald Trump immunity for official acts now that one of those official acts is telling the Supreme Court to shove their ruling and fuck the fuck off.

The most obvious lesson to draw from the leaked Signal chat is that these people really are morons. It's not a public act, it's not a schtick, there's not some secret back room where they drop the facade. They are genuinely stupid, incompetent people.

Wired is dropping paywalls for FOIA-based reporting. Others should follow As the administration does its best to hide public records from the public, Wired magazine is stepping up to help stem the secrecy

They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.

This may not be a popular opinion, but I believe the talk about cutting Medicaid is nothing more than a distraction. The Republicans haven’t had consensus in their own party to pass a budget. Red states would be the most harmed by a Medicaid cut.
