21.11.2025 13:20 โ ๐ 7 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Sure, thatโs fair, but like still throw the occasional citation my way, please
18.11.2025 14:14 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Or at the very least abnormal in a self-effacing and vaguely charming manner?
18.11.2025 13:58 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0But itโs cool when someoneโs like โwow canโt believe you didnโt know Kant already said thatโ right? Like thatโs pretty much the best?
16.11.2025 13:13 โ ๐ 13 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I like to imagine it as a Stempel, like...

20.09.2025 13:52 โ ๐ 14 ๐ 3 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Just got page proofs and had to read a bit of my prose.
17.09.2025 21:11 โ ๐ 11 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Just ask ChatGPT, it'll be happy to make up some relevant references!
08.09.2025 14:17 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I would also say that the hostility I got in referee reports in grad school remains unmatched by anything I've experienced since then.
08.09.2025 13:59 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Yes, especially the anonymous or semi-anonymous parts of the culture!
08.09.2025 13:57 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Somewhat against one part of this thread, it seems to me that one usually (not always!) knows what the problems in one's papers are. So often all the referee needs to do is say in a sentence what each problem is and push one to deal with it. But of course no need to do that with any hostility!
08.09.2025 13:57 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0One hypothesis: (1) Increasing precarity has meant increased hostility and aggression below the surface in the profession, (2) shifting disciplinary norms have made non-anonymous expressions of hostility and aggression more unacceptable, thus (3) an increase in anonymous expressions of the same?
08.09.2025 13:54 โ ๐ 5 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Woke up to a paper rejection with a pretty negative referee report, and you know what, the referee really nailed it this time
07.09.2025 13:22 โ ๐ 14 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Plato attacks poetry because it disorders the soul through lying, impersonation, and deception. Seen from that perspective, the problem with LLMs is not that they *can't* produce poetry โ it's that they produce *nothing but*?
29.08.2025 18:29 โ ๐ 7 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0It also got my questions wrong, but it seemed more inclined to give a false negative than a hallucination?
