So is everyone just usually living off a dual income when they finish postdoc or am I missing something? I have 6 months left and can’t afford to even think about applying for the EEEP.. tf do we not talk about this for??

In the last 2 weeks I’ve had to have the: “yes I’m school psych background and yes I still deserve a clinical license, I’m actually probably over qualified” debate and I’m tired. Y’all really don’t hide your biases.“so you can still get MY license? But I can’t get yours?!” Precisely. Over qualified.

Now why the hell does each state get to decide if there’s a cost to apply for the licensure exam and why did Arizona decide it should cost a summertime electric bill to ask to take a test. Atp im catching a flight over seas and trying something else. Im too bone deep tired.

Like we all knew this was coming… but to see it.. to see myself and my loved ones just get erased.. Idunno man, I don’t drink like that anymore, but someone get me a strong one

The most frustrating thing is I did my part. I got my degree. I put in the hours and work. I’m a damn good provider and I don’t say that lightly (too many people echoing the sentiment behind me). So why am I not getting what I was promised from the jump?? The whole field needs a reboot smh.

On todays episode of things I wish our field talked ab:

Licensure information. Hours breakdown and what counts from school/what doesn’t. How to avoid predatory practices. And why we’re so vocal about practitioner shortages but gate keep licensure so hard?? It’s been a bad day if you can’t tell.

You know what still sits with me and makes me laugh sometimes?? I had a supervisor in grad school attempt to put me on academic probation because I never smiled on zoom during the pandemic… oh man, what a time.

I guess my A in stats is doing something for me now

Well, folks, if you find yourself sitting in stats thinking “when will I ever need to do a paired samples t test by hand?”, my advice is just learn it. Not all practices are built the same and some need you to run paired t tests by hand for 30 pairs bc SPSS access is a privilege 🙂

The fact that I’ll be up all night writing this report and won’t be able to track a single hour towards licensure is wild and awful 😭 I get the theory behind a 40 hour reporting cap, but I think this is a theory we can reject atp

That’s my childhood stocking my mom hand beaded. That my childhood Santa hat my mom glued and glittered my name on. My parents sent me my own cookie decorating kit and cookies they baked in their oven, that my baby sister helped cut out. I’m absolutely sobbing 😭 I love them so much 💕

Admittedly, December has been such a hard month. I’m across the country from my family and this is the first Christmas in 29 years I won’t be home. It’s been hard to feel the magic that comes with this time of year bc I just want to be home. So, my parents sent our traditions and home to me 😭

If there’s one thing I’m grateful I learned while in school, it’s boundaries AND the reinforcement of boundaries. Clients AND work, no one should take kind deeds and assimilate them into job role expectations. Thats my sign that some boundaries need reinforcing 🙂‍↕️
