Wow! What an evening. Very interesting talk by Roger Penrose, who met and had tea with Escher and has created his own Escher-like drawings to illustrate certain concepts in physics. Took the opportunity to get a photo with the great man himself too!

I did an hour quick revision summary of electricity to my year 11 child with a mini plasma ball and a couple of LEDs, but an energy stick looks even better!!

Having something useful for pupils to do while register is being done, mwbs etc handed out and everyone settles means this time isn't wasted. Getting kids to try and remember previous lesson's content provides a bit of spaced retrieval. Kills 2 birds with 1 stone.

It feels very appropriate to be celebrating Dr Who day with my Whovian child listening to talks about physics paradoxes (HAPP conference, Oxford). Talks on time travel and black holes this afternoon were very on target.
