31.10.2025 13:38 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Digby County, Nova Scotia, I was using a telescopic lens and was about 40 feet away. This Snapping Turtle was pretty shy for being such a large creature. Maybe that's why it's so large and probably quite old. I was using a telescopic lens and tried to get a front shot but it jumped in the water.
21.06.2025 16:59 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Digby County, Nova Scotia, Canada - the lake has really warmed up over the week sparking weed growth on the lake bottom. This muskrat was eating the lake weeds in a bout 3 feet of water out in front of my cabin.
18.05.2025 16:59 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Digby County, Nova Scotia, Canada - I've been watching the progress of a goose family that have been hanging around the cabin. Unfortunately there were 5 goslings yesterday and only 3 today. We had some bad weather last night so I don't know if this took out 2 of the goslings or a predator got them.
18.05.2025 16:57 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Digby County, Nova Scotia, Canada - we have a pair of loons that spend time in the bay in front of our cabin. They got quite close yesterday as the goose family was up on the shore eating grass and the loons seemed very interested in what they were doing.
18.05.2025 16:52 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A full moon on a pleasant May evening last night. My thoughts of those who are no longer with us. Digby County, Nova Scotia, Canada.
13.05.2025 15:08 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Painting my bee hives. Next step is getting the apiary area setup and then installing the bees the week of May 19 th. Thatβs when the real fun begins.

01.05.2025 21:18 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Beavers have been visiting us in the early evening. Fortunately it was still light enough that these photos turned out. I was about 15 feet away and this beaver didn't seem to mind that we were there. It likes the fresh grass chutes that are poking through the ground. Nova Scotia, Canada.
30.04.2025 13:41 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0April 29th and went out in the kayak on Sprague Lake, Digby County, Nova Scotia, Canada. Looks like a painted turtle was enjoying the morning as well.
29.04.2025 14:03 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Digby County, Nova Scotia - back at the homestead earlier than usual. The leaves are not on the trees yet. We were visited by a pair of Loons. I just love seeing and hearing these birds.
26.04.2025 13:59 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I looked out the living room window that overlooks the river and thought I saw some Caspian Terns. As I got closer I realized they were Herring Gulls. Too bad as Caspian Terns are more interesting but that being said it's nice watching Herring Gulls in their natural environment.
10.04.2025 13:51 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0From past experiences of bee keepers in the FB groups I follow electric fences often don't act as much of a deterrent with bears. There's bears in the area of my Apiary (Nova Scotia) So I'm going try this. It will be fun to try out. www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4yp...
04.04.2025 18:52 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Voted in the advance polls today (Canadian Federal Election). They were busy. It felt good to vote. I wonder if it will make a difference.
03.04.2025 21:51 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I woke up early this morning. With this dusting of snow I walked down to the river to take some pictures. The ice has left the river. Mt. Stewart, Prince Edward Island, Canada
27.03.2025 12:22 β π 4 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0The Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island waterfront. It was quiet except for a cop delivering what looked to be a court summons to a women who was sitting at the edge of the boardwalk. It just added to the dystopia that was in play.
21.03.2025 19:02 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0First day of spring. Such a nice day on Prince Edward Island, Canada. Sunny with a light breeze. The temperature was at 8 Celsius.
20.03.2025 20:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Saw some Ravens and Crows today on my walk. Here's a picture of a crow in flight and a raven in flight.
20.03.2025 20:43 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Mad Honey - produced by Honey bees that pollinate Rhododendron flowers. In small doses it can cause light headedness and hallucinations. I'll be setting up my apiary near some large Rhododendron bushes this spring. This might be better than mead LOL ... theapiarist.org/mad-honey/
18.03.2025 21:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Spent Saturday in Amherst Nova Scotia at the bird sanctuary. We didn't see many birds. Just chickadees as people hand feed them there. We also heard and then saw some Ravens who were busy building nests. The lakes are still frozen over and parts of the trail had hard packed ice. It was a nice day.
16.03.2025 16:45 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A Bald Eagle flying over the Mt. Stewart sewage lagoon, Prince Edward Island, Canada. He was flying toward the geese along the nearby river that we were watching 10 minutes earlier. We heard the geese make lots of noise so I wonder if the eagle tried to get one of them.
10.03.2025 20:31 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Canada Geese sitting along the edge of the ice on the Hillsborough River. More and more geese have been arriving over the past couple of weeks.
10.03.2025 20:26 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This isn't a desert but part of the coastline of Prince Edward Island, Canada on a pleasant March day.
10.03.2025 15:01 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Topographical view of my homestead. You can see my dock pieces on the shore, the cabin and the square shape on the top left corner is my vegetable garden. I will be setting up my bee hives near the garden this spring. The garden produces a lot of food. Hopefully I will have honey this year too.
04.03.2025 14:52 β π 4 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0I filled up the bird feeder with sun flower seeds. The Gold Finches really like them. There's no Avian Flu on the Island so I'll keep the feeder up. Not that it probably matters as I have neighbors behind me and across the road that have chickens. and we also have ducks and geese on the river.
