11.08.2025 15:43 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0So excited and grateful to receive R24 NOA from NIH ORIP to create an integrated #zebrafish omics, histology and microCT 3D atlas!
Looking forward to an exciting work with Dr. Postlethwait of U of Oregon, who is the co-PI of the grant.
Wrote a big review with my friend and colleague @varshneylab.social on the state-of-the-art in CRISPR used experimentally in vivo. We wanted to focus on their use in experimental vertebrate animals (apparently passΓ© now but we persist).

Welsh climate impact story: my mum's local Co-op store in Cardiff has been unable to stock perishable food and dairy for over a week because its chill cabinets are powered by a gas generator. The gas tanks that power the generator are overheating thanks to a heatwave affecting the UK.

MeeSiing Ngu led the work; together with Keith Cheng at Penn State University, Luisa Orsini and John Colbourne at the University of Birmingham, and Dr. Beaton at Mount Allison University, Canada, we curated an open-access atlas for the daphnia community.

We are trialing a central hub for questions/queries for the #zebrafish community as they tend to get lost in our feed. (Really wanted to try this on Twitter) These will be reposted by us. Check there if you want to help. Amplifications appreciated π
13.11.2024 08:27 β π 15 π 10 π¬ 1 π 0We routinely use PTA in my lab. We stained Daphnia, Zebrafish, mouse, Xenapus, axolotl without much issue. Occasionally need to optimize for duration and concentration. Fly has been the hardest to stained. We tried pricking the fly abdomen, but also requires long staining duration.
12.11.2024 21:01 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yes, the uptake is too long. The cuticles makes it hard to stain the fly. And also hard to get an even staining throughout the whole fly.
12.11.2024 20:48 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Have you try to stain the fly with other metal stains such as PTA or PMA?
