Somewhere, somehow, at a right-wing tabloid, the most deranged Meghan story of all time is being birthed

I think you have a lot of good answers to your question! Whatever problems the left has, not bring excited about technology and its potential is not one of them

Yes: clean energy like solar power, vaccinations, healthcare developments like PrEP, INSTI and cancer cures, agricultural tech like disease prevention and sustainable aeroponic farming, I could go on and on. The left loves science. We hate grifts.

and i think the example of washington β€” whose peer, in this regard, is frederick douglass β€”Β is a reminder that artifice and performance are important parts of democratic society, and that the contempt for virtue signaling is corrosive. virtue is meant to be signaled!

Elon posted this yesterday. Just for fun I did it with my before/after cancer PET scans that I had already posted online. In the "before" scan Grok missed the massive tumor lighting up my liver, and in both scans it flagged a non-existent "area of concern" in my chest. Other than that, works great!

the "left" broadly advocated for open access community owned gigabit fiber networks while the right coddled monopoly access to the detriment of progress and affordability for four decades

Dispatches from the #GortonandDenton by-election: local community Facebook groups are being flooded with some really dodgy πŸ’©.

One for my neighbours in Levy and for investigative journalists - not sure whom to talk to about it.

See a few screenshots here, and 🧡on why I think it's sus below.

ICE agents crashed directly into a 19-year-old refugee's car, pulled him out from the wreck, threw him on the ground, then rushed him off to detention before he could locate the immigration papers in his car that proved he's here lawfully. democracyforward.org/wp-content/u...

The world's richest man is broadcasting eliminationist rhetoric about a tiny, vulnerable minority, and virtually no one is going to treat it as a scandal. It's just normal now.

I’d note that there is quite an overlap between people warning about Trump’s authoritarianism and people warning that invading Iraq would be a terrible mistake and their critics in both instances

The right to vote is enshrined in the Constitution.

The "right" of armed federal cops to arrest, beat, and kill people with anonymity is not.

The Republican party is attempting to build an effective dictatorship where voting will no longer matter.

Anyone who doesn’t want that, including and especially socialists, should vote strategically to help prevent it while it remains an option

We shouldn’t still be having this argument

Elimination of emissions standards was one of the pretty clear policy stakes of the 2024 election and it received about 1% as much coverage as whether Tim Walz retiring from the national guard after 21 years was cowardly.

Don't email a paedophile It's a slippery slope!

In the New Statesman this morning, I tackle an odd subgenre of Epstein coverage that's become more and more prevalent: breathless warnings that we're on a slippery slope to mob rule when we ask awkward questions of the world's most powerful people.

It is an ironic triumph of neoliberalism that a voter imagines themselves as a consumer selecting candidates rather than being in something of a struggle with 200 million other people with a need for friends and alliances

Ofelia Torres, teen who fought to have her father released from ICE custody, dies from rare cancer Ofelia Torres, 16, died on Friday from Stage 4 alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer, her father's lawyer confirmed.

A child dying of cancer spent her final days fighting to free her wrongfully detained father from ICE custody.

This comes just weeks after a mother from Maryland was denied the right to be at her son’s side as he died from cancer.

It is not even certain there will be a fair election in 2028. It is vital that the GOP is defeated so long as they threaten free elections & try to increase fossil fuel use.

Trump’s 24 win has already costs hundreds of thousands of additional lives compared to Harris. Natalie is extremely correct

Many people in South Africa, where Elon is from, died to create a genuinely multiracial polity. They were killed by people who thought like Elon.

The people who thought like Elon also lost. Seems their β€œcommon culture” of white supremacy wasn’t enough.
