Might as well say β€œno guarantee this β€œfreedom” thing will work.”

What free individuals choose to do with their share of our growing collective abundance is up to them, not some busybody.

Setting the moralizing aside, what people actually choose provides the raw fuel of our economy.

Actually, it needs to align with productivity growth, which is what grows the whole economic pie. That’s what keeps all the economics working in a socioeconomically sustainable mode. (Which says nothing about other aspects of β€œsustainability”)

Moreno says United States, allies 'dumb' to compete with China on EVs The Ohio U.S. senator said there are other areas for automakers to innovate and compete on beside electrification.

The GOP is fully committed to buggy whips. Those new fangled, so called β€œhorseless carriages” are a liberal hoax. Everyone knows you need horses for US distances. Even the car companies cite their β€œhorsepower” proving they agree.

Whips and manure will prevail!

Neither Republicans nor our media nor our pundits understand how a β€œmarket based” system works. Price elasticity is *key* and the inherent zero elasticity of healthcare *guarantees* that a β€œmarket based” system will drive up costs. The more we use markets, the higher prices will go. Guaranteed.

What was once confined to FoxNews and Sinclair has spread like an infectious disease to more and more media sources. The once high standards for journalistic integrity have given way to β€œaccess journalism” where all that matters is maintaining access through fawning support.

This is the β€œwhole country” commitment to 21st century leadership that the US once had, that China studied and learned from and that our current ideology demands we label as cheating.

We’re trapped in ideological idiocy.

DoD hasn’t passed an audit in yrs. Unfortunately, it was deemed off-limits to any examination by DOGE, probably because DOGE had literally *nothing* to do with efficiency. Their mission was stealing data, planting back doors and the destruction of US science and medical research.

Agree. Posted the following a while ago. I once even did an extended thread offering specific details.

Those are not β€œclaims without evidence.” They’re just simple lies. Not even distortions or exaggerations, just plain old lies. Oh, and nobody can miss the heavy dose of racism as the underlying theme.

Headlines should reflect reality.

Seems to me most folks have navigated these challenges pretty well over the centuries. The only population that seems to really fail are the white, Christian nationalists. Perhaps they’d like to go elsewhere? They seem to like Latin America. How about sending them all to Venezuela?

They entered their positions of responsibility under a banner screaming β€œmeritocracy” and intended as proof of the defects of β€œwoke DEI.”

Well, the evidence is in:

Woke / DEI is clearly superior.

Time to scream *that* from the rooftops.

Agree. Strongly. In fact, that’s what motivated me to write The Fifth Paradigm. That book offers a number of insights on what’s wrong, how we got here and how to think about some of the most important solutions. My current writing is going deeper but 5thP has most of what people need to understand.

I think Hyundai is doing better at navigating this transition than pretty much any other incumbent. I’m also well aware my needs are both niche & pushing the boundaries of current EV/battery tech. However, I spent my career in tech and the pace of progress reminds me of our early days. It’s coming!

This doesn’t apply to everyone but for guys like me who do actually tow a 6-7000 pound trailer on a regular basis this Hyundai simply can’t do the job. I’m still planning a Rivian R1T when it comes time to replace my current tow vehicle but would love to see a viable Hyundai alternative.

Correct, though I’d modify one aspect of your post. The inflation was *not* triggered by our economic policies. It was triggered *globally* by the supply disruptions caused by the pandemic. There’s even an argument our policies may have reduced the inflationary impact of those disruptions.

SCOTUS has declared the collateral damages caused by indiscriminately arresting anyone associated with a β€œcriminal illegal alien” as accomplices is acceptable as the practice is just β€œcommon sense.” I assume they’ll be arresting the whole family shortly.

There’s a phrase we used a lot in the tech industry. At some point in any tech development it will pass a β€œgood enough” threshold beyond which purchase behavior shifts. A recent example would be the β€œmegapixel” wars for DSLRs. Nobody cares anymore. They’re all β€œgood enough.”

We might see a repeat of the USMCA scenario where he just smears his brand on something done by Obama. Wouldn’t be the worst outcome.

Just posted the following in a different context, but the point remains exactly the same.

β€œIdeologues are ignorant idiots” is a simple alliteration everyone should memorize. It’s basically true in every instance.

Followers of the β€œdereg” religion aren’t very smart nor do they understand how regs work. Regulations *make* markets.

Good, clear, national regs make big attractive mkts.

Bad, ambiguous state regs fracture the mkt eliminating scale & scope economies and risking endless liability lawsuits.

The global rise and eventual fall of the neoliberal ideology. Can start with Hayek, Ayn Rand, Friedman, Reagan and Thatcher. Include the failures of neoliberal healthcare and the Tea party. Track actual economic activity including declining dynamism. Show parallels to 1920s and Great Depression. Etc

Not even sure they really care about abortion. It’s more a matter of suppressing women’s personal rights and control over their own sexuality and reproductive healthcare management.

This preposterous framing is why our media remains a major part of the problem. The salient issue isn’t Trumps approval rating which is meaningless to most. It’s access to healthcare. And, unfortunately, that remains a complete failure.
