I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Senegal before cell phones and the internet and missed a bunch of things. One of the big ones that comes to mind is the OJ trial.

For many years after returning home, I often was clueless when certain cultural references were made.

I visited the apartment building ICE raided on Tuesday today. Story to come, but you can walk right in. Half of the apartments have no doors on them. Children's stuff abandoned in some flats. *Citizen* residents told me they were arrested and held for hours in zipties. This is America

If you go to a climate conference and meat or dairy is on the menu, please say something to organizers. "Please aim to have a vegan menu next year! Meat & dairy are huge contributors to climate change and it undermines our commitment and message to serve them at an event about climate change."

Isn't it weird when you go to a conference about climate change and they are serving meat and/or dairy? It's just not necessary.

Yes, things are scary, but historical context gives (me) some comfort (things have been worse!), as well as courage to get out there and fight (October 18th is right around the corner and I need to make a new sign!)

And by "overheard" I mean I was standing all the way across the restaurant and he was explaining this so loudly and confidently that I could hear him as could everyone else in the place.

Overheard a middle-aged white guy at a sandwich shop in Colorado explaining to a younger white guy that DEI meant that if he hired a white person and a black person for the same job, he'd have to pay the black person more. This, he explained, was what "equity" meant.

Did you read my post carefully? Our current relationship is rather fraught on the subject of politics. It's not an easy subject to broach.

Other countries expanded their soy industries to fill China's demand.
