Thanks for the explanation. Iโm never sure of the identification. I guess that explains why they move on. ๐

Slowly removing lawn, replacing with native plants. My one small step for wildlife, climate, anxiety. Reading, learning to play the ukelele, front porch birding and nature observing. Trying to stay informed but not stressed out.
Thanks for the explanation. Iโm never sure of the identification. I guess that explains why they move on. ๐

Weโve had a few black swallowtail butterflies this summer, but most often they do a brief flyover and move on. I wonder what theyโre looking for. ๐ฑ #nativeplants #butterflies

10.08.2025 15:19 โ ๐ 10 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0๐ Last year, I waited a day too long to take a photo of a winterberry shrub covered in berries. Overnight, the deer came and ate all the berries along with a third of the plant.
10.08.2025 12:57 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Thank you, Margaret. Yes, some I planted from seed; but in this garden, most are from small plugs or theyโve now spread around on their own.

For some reason, the deer neglected to drop by to eat all of the great blue lobelia just before they start to flower. And also lobelia plants have spread hither and yon around the garden. ๐ ๐ฑ #nativeplants
