Honestly nobody batted an eye but I normally keep my mutterings to myself.

I often say/believe I’m from the Midwest when in fact I am from Appalachia (only by about a mile, depending on how you count SE Ohio.) I mostly *feel* like I’m from the Midwest and lived there for ~15 years. But I’ll say I’m from WV when it serves me in conversation. 😉

The same pattern can happen with adding green spaces / green infrastructure unless carefully planned to avoid. (I’m not an expert on this, read a little bit on it but I’m not familiar with all the possible solutions).

In spring and summer, tour buses migrate from across the region to converge at various mating areas around DC like the mall and Pentagon City Fashion Center. They release their gametes into these areas where they intermingle before starting the long voyage home. It’s a spectacle to behold.

I just wish there were more opportunities for habitat restoration in Alexandria through the program. My local chapter is paired with Arlington and they have a more established relationship with that city. But there are activities are Dora Kelley, 4MR park, and that one weird long Del Ray Park.

I’m glad I did it but there are times when I think, “I signed up to have another obligation?“ 😜 But overall I like the volunteer opportunities and the networking.
