A screenshot of a Final Fantasy XIV Q&A question, reading: Q16. From time to time, you see some very unique skills/spells being cast by the enemies. I am curious if the enemy labels and gives a name to their own skills/spells, or if the Warrior of Light takes a look at the enemy and goes "Thats gotta be called that skill!" A16. Both are correct. There are some cases which the enemy possesses their own will and named their own cast, or a if it carries a program, or maybe some cases which an Eorzean named it such as "Morbol Breath". Warrior of Light being able to see the castbar on top of the enemy's head is thanks to the Echo. A normal person could not see such. Think of it like a "super gut sense" that top-tier MMA fighters might have?

I appreciate the end clarifying that it's more intuition of an enemy's intent (Fordola got a hyper version of this b/c/o Krile's additional ability to see aether traces), but I bet a lot of people are gonna read that super literally.

A screenshot from back in Patch 2.3, where the meeting of the Ascian overlords is depicted. As in Patch 2.0, the scene implies that there are 14 red-masked overlords - one for each shard. Unlike in 2.0, throughout the scene, only Lahabrea and Elidibus have the appropriate shoulderpads.

I do see the overlord shoulderpads but between the 2.0/2.3 oddities† and the recent Thancred necklace incident I'm thinking maybe we just let that go…?

†2.0 shows 14 black-robed, shoulder-padded overlords before Eli arrives. 2.3 shows the 14 (inc. "dead" Emmerololth) PLUS Eli, but no pads on most.

We've been joking about a Fifth Astral Era time travel expansion in #FFXIV for so long that either it will be funny that this has been waiting in the Shade's Triangle the entire time or funnier that this was our brain's hallucination of choice when arriving at the Island of Mirages / Crescent Isle.
