Regardless of active market share the point about burning their reputation is still true, and that will shift use over time. Same with Intel's poor rep now. 12VHPWR got even worse with 50xx over 40xx and people noticed. Multiple broken driver releases for a while and people noticed.

Lot of stuff still seemingly broken/not great on Wayland but KDE is going full Wayland soon so idk maybe that will finally change after 12 years
