After two previous tries, I finally read “In the Garden of Beasts” earlier this year. It is…a lot given the current climate in the US. Also enjoyed “Thunderstruck” and “The Splendid and the Vile.”

I grew up in the far north Chicago ‘burbs, and although I’m in SoCal now, it’s still my favorite city. Currently reading Starter Villain and loving the geographic references, especially since my aunt and uncle have lived in Barrington for coming up on 40 years.

I was waiting for your reaction to the LEGO set! All the minifigures look amazing and I’m so happy Guinan was also included. No idea where we will PUT the Enterprise but I definitely want it…

Saw them in the San Diego area a couple years back. Despite our notoriously good weather, it was drizzly the entire show and then the heavens just OPENED for “Only Happy When It Rains.” It was kind of glorious.

I…I am confused.

I would have much rather Hillary won in 2016 than my Cubs.

But both would have been the best option.

I still don’t see myself making my way back to the Catholic Church for a number of reasons, but I am liking the Chicago Pope.

As a teenager growing up in the suburbs of Chicago in the ‘90s, I miss the Jordan Bulls.

And last night was a good night.

I grew up listening to a LOT of Neil Diamond, and I’ve been revisiting his music recently. I get choked up every time I try to sing along to this one these days. ❤️

I still have my copy of the Chicago Tribune from 11/05/2008. It was such a joyous feeling.

It’s just so lovely to see a politician that seems to actually LIKE his potential constituents, instead of treating them with contempt or worse. I’m way on the other side of the country, but I’m cheering for NYC today.

Seventeen years ago today I had such hope for the future. I still have my copy of the Chicago Tribune from the following day.

Dropped off my CA Prop 50 ballot in the library ballot drop box on Sunday. I love that we all get mailed ballots here now.

We are big fans of Corner Gas. Canadian, 6 seasons (plus a movie and an additional 4 animated seasons, actually), small town life with good characters. It’s on Amazon, but only with ads, unfortunately.

I had never listened to a podcast, and audio books don’t work for my brain. But I decided to give yours a try the last couple days, and it has made a crappy San Diego afternoon commute soooo much less frustrating.

We have Sneakers in our “need to rewatch” pile. What a stacked cast.

I rode in a friend’s Chevy EV a few weeks ago, and the exterior handles pop out at an angle when it’s unlocked. They looked like they were broken and I was worried I was going to snap one off. So stupid.

It’s weird how upsetting those photos are. Objectively I know that no building is worth more than the people being terrorized by ICE. But something in the symbolism of him tearing down part of “our house” is just sickening.

When my husband and I got married, we played a Cake song while we cut the cake. Probably only half a dozen people at the reception caught the reference, but we were amused by ourselves.

Love that show. The music is awesome!
