Sweat or weed ?

06.12.2025 11:45 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Finally, DO NOT EVER, EVER, EVER, LIE TO A JUDGE. Your lies will get discovered and when they do, your tournament will not end well.
06.12.2025 04:14 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0When being a spectator to a match, if you happen to notice an infraction to the rules happening at the table and the players do not notice, the correct way to do it without risking outside assistance is to ask the players to pause and call a judge immediately after.
06.12.2025 04:14 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Mistakes can happen where a ruling is made incorrectly and when we realize it, it is too late to fix. Please be understanding of your judges. If you are unsure about a given ruling. you have the right to appeal to the Head Judge (please let the floor judge finish their ruling before appealing).
06.12.2025 04:14 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0On the subject of interactions between players and judges that all new Riftbound competitive players must keep in mind.
Judges are expected to be impartial, diplomatic, respectful, knowledgeable about the rules and provide customer service to the players. But they are also human.
While it could be great that it gets explicitly specified in the rules, logically, it would be in the player's best interest to have it be same color to prevent awkward situations like when card is hidden or put back in hand. (Teemo players may relate).

I am personally looking forward to Riftbound, both as player and judge. Gonna be exciting !
Or make sure no Vivi players show up ;)
My local Store champs had 14 players in it and there were 0 Vivi decks.
That evening has been the most fun so far for me and for everyone else who participated.
Notes:
Siege was great, especially on turn 2, may decide to go +1 siege -1 Courage instead.
Ruby seems to fit well in the strategy but I am stuck with a space issue, -1 Heirloom +1 Ruby maybe ?
Sideboard plan will need some reworking, especially on arena. Better plan vs Aggro for starters.
(Aug 6th] 2-1 at My LGS with this experimental version.
2-1 vs Azorius Blink
0-2 vs Selesnya Cage (close game 1, deck gave up g2)
2-0 vs Temur Ramp (faster on the aggression and god hands)
Field had no Pixie or aggro decks, which was weird..
Deck does fun plays, need a bit more consistency ?
I mean, Enduring Courage is in the format after all ! Worth experimenting a bit with it :)
To be continued (?)
After the STD rotation, I was so lost in trying to find a deck I would find fun to play at my lgs. Then came @bmkibler.bsky.social with Temur Warp :)
Def. not tier 1 but so much fun lines of play. Then I wondered, if ALL of my Warp creatures (and DragonHawk) could have haste, would it be better ?
I sadly agree with you. Since the pandemic especially, our local Comp
REL judges have been more subject to various degrees of "hate" than before from a small but vocal fringe of the player community.
It's one of the reasons I judge less Competitive events nowadays..
As the most likely example to occur:
When you have 4 lands in play and a Worldwagon is revealed alongside another 4 power creature, you won't be able to put both in your hand.
A small thing rules-wise that you may need to pay attention when playing it on paper:
When resolving Rip's triggered ability, the Lumbering Worldwagon's power is not 0. It will be the number defined by the number of lands you control at the time this resolves. (CR 604.3:Charact.-defining ability)
Went 3-0 (6-1) at my local weekly event with it tonight with the previous version. It was incredible how smooth it runs and how fun it is !
12 out of 10, will definitely run it at next week's local store champs !
Keep a thought for all the Mario Kart Players who may see their Blue Shell PTSD being triggered at their local #Mtg prerelease this weekend !
Be kind and provide emotional support if needed !
Seasoned Dungeoneer, because who doesn't like Adventuring in a Dungeon ? ;)

Found this in my photo archive.
The easiest decklist to not accept for a RCQ.. #judge
Player meant it as a funny joke. Would have laughed it off if they had a paper copy of it on hand...
They had to scramble to write it in paper instead. Joke's on them ;)
- Putting 5 x/1 creature tokens in play despite seeing I have a Shrouded Shepherd in hand.
- Using Soul Partition on either Tolarian Terror or Crab. Yeah it will cost two more mana to cast it, but the cost reduction ability of the creatures can negate it too !
Bad plays I have seen so far in standard:
- Tap out to Cast a kicked Burst Lightning on an undamaged Tolarian Terror AND paying the Ward 2 on top of it.
- Exiling too many instants with Collect Evidence of Analyze the pollen to get a Terror they cannot cast, despite a Crab being in said graveyard.
1/2 Each combination opens up answers to specific matchups and even alternate plans against graveyard hate.
In a relatively dynamic metagame in the format, this flexibility will make this deck powerful in the hands of those who can correctly predict a specific event's meta. Watch out for it !
1/x The Terror/Crab tempo deck in #mtg Standard has been very interesting, especially regarding its flexibility.
Many color variations of it are being tested and have a fair degree of success. (Simic, Sultai, Bant and now 4 color)
Mana Drain their 3-cost spell, then follow up on my next turn with a Forth Eorlingas for 6.
Canadian Highlander is fun !
Wait until you successfully change some plumbing by yourself :)
