A predominantly brown and orange butterfly perched on small bright yellow flowers. Its wings are closed and the lower wing is edged with small eye spots with wavy lines nearer the body. The upper wing is partially hidden but has a large eye spot near the tip with brighter orange segments separated by black lines. Its proboscis (tongue) is extended into one of the flowers. The background is a diffuse brown.

The Wall Brown (Lasiommata megera) butterfly, now sadly extinct in many regions of the UK, I photographed this one in #Gredos, Spain where they're still plentiful.
