ALLE VEREINT - GEGEN MONTAGSSPIELE Der Frauenfußball weltweit, ebenso in Deutschland, zieht immer mehr Menschen in seinen Bann, und das zu Recht. Viele Funktionär innen, ganz gleich ob aus Verbänden oder Vereinen, betonen stets, welches enorme Potenzial und welcher Wachstumsmarkt hier entstanden ist. Was ebenfalls immer wieder hervorgehoben wird und womit auf unterschiedlichsten Plattformen geworben wird, ist die Wichtigkeit der Fans. Dabei sind Fans vor dem TV genauso wichtig wie jene, die Wochenende für Wochenende ins Stadion strömen und dort zunehmend zu einer bunten, offenen und vielfältigen Fankultur beitragen. Das Stadionerlebnis in Deutschland ist inzwischen auch im Frauenfußball zu einem echten Markenzeichen geworden. Auf der Akkreditierung des 2. Fankongresses im Frauenfußball in Deutschland im vergangenen Jahr war auf der Rückseite zu lesen: „Unsere Fans sind das Herz des Frauenfußballs. Sie tragen uns mit ihrer Leidenschaft und ihren Emotionen. Sie geben uns Rückenwind, stehen immer an unserer Seite, wir können uns jederzeit auf sie verlassen. Diese Fankultur ist einzigartig." Mit wachsendem Unmut beobachten wir daher, wie mit diesen so wertvollen Fans umgegangen wird. Für uns aktive Fans, die viel Zeit im Stadion, auf dem Weg dorthin oder wieder nach Hause verbringen oder sich unter der Woche intensiv auf einen Spieltag vorbereiten, wird ein aktives Fanleben zunehmend schwieriger. Haben wir uns an einen vollständig zerstückelten Spieltag bereits zähneknirschend gewöhnen müssen, gibt es dennoch ein Thema, das uns so sehr aufbringt wie kein anderes.

I wasn’t successful in the first two ballots and at no point did I need to tell them I need wheelchair seats. I found it very strange they didn’t ask for this or allow you to advise you wanted accessible seating. FIFA are allowing anyone to purchase a wheelchair space. I also found wheelchair tickets on the resale platform at a high price with only one space and no seat for a personal assistant (companion). I can’t travel to games without someone helping me. The companion seat is needed for me to be able to attend safely.”

During that time I’ve been to four tournaments both European Championships and World Cups. Until now I’ve never had any problems purchasing tickets or organising my travel and accommodation. Although Poland’s qualification for the World Cup will only be decided in March, I can already say that the proposed ticket costs are shockingly high from my perspective. Planning a barrier-free trip, booking accessible accommodation and having an assistant attend matches with me are essential if I am to take part in this football event. Unfortunately, the current challenges related to ticket accessibility and pricing are making the prospect of attending this celebration of football increasingly unrealistic.”

It just shows FIFA’s complete lack of consultation with disabled fans and their representative groups. Charging full price for an extra adult ticket will have a devastating impact on disabled supporters and their ability to afford attending the World Cup.”

If the experience is already costly and challenging for the average fan, it is even more prohibitive for those of us with disabilities."

Let us be very clear: this baby's rattle is not awarded "on behalf of billions of fans around the world", as FIFA claims. It’s nothing more than an ego-stroking stunt.
This is a deeply troubling day for football & FIFA.
