Would have every sympathy but you could just laugh and say "it's alright, they're only playing!" Stupid? Every time you walk through a park and your young child, who's terrified of dogs, has one running up to them barking in their face, hearing that comment gets a bit f***ing tiresome.

What's the highest number of speakers you tend to get now with home cinema systems? I remember 9 (8 around the room plus sub woofer) being very to of the range in the early 2000s.

As someone who, apparently, has perfect hearing but can't hear the person in front of them in a loud room, I'm going to try this. Thank you.

Apparently, the problem is that movies are mixed for 120+ speaker cinemas, where it's not so much "left, right, front, back" but, "all over the bloody place".
Mixing that down to two speakers for a TV is nigh on impossible.
They are bloody good films though.

Definitely a "been there since version 1 and if we change it, someone, somewhere will moan about it!" feature.

The ECHR battle is the one they have lined up for when there are no more migrants staying in hotels. Once they've got us out of that (or lost the battle), it'll be the NHS ("Why are YOU paying national insurance for people who don't look after themselves").
Always find an enemy that isn't you.

It surely coincidence that the Conservatives seem to attack Labour about something on days senior Conservative officials are facing the COVID inquiry.

I wonder which TV "news" company might hire him?

A billionaire owner saying he'd rather get rid of staff rather than cut company profits is another fine example of "trickle-down" economics at work.

As long as it stops people talking about last few days evidence of the COVID enquiry and the dodgy home improvements the last government undertook, then they don't really care.

We walked up once hoping we could get the train down. Nope! Slipped on the way down and bruised a rib - daft really since the day before I'd thrown myself down a zip wire at 90+mph without incident.

Asking here a question I've asked elsewhere about the PPE MedPro debacle. If we can go after old people to pay for care home fees, why can't we go after former company directors for breaking the law?

I'd you want another reason to dislike him, the money he earns will go into a charity that he and his wife setup meaning it won't be taxed.
I'm sure the charity paid out an awful lot to those who need it though.

Unlike the dotcom-era bubble, most of the tech companies doing well off the back of AI have other technology to fall back on and make money from instead.
The money men will make a fortune shorting against the stocks of the big tech firms.
The rest of us will be fleeced as usual.

The bits I've read suggest it's being more flexible with outside events rather than longer hours. If new laws stop people from moving into an area and saying "that pubs too loud" and site owners closing pubs to sell them for flats, then that's a good thing.

Good point.
Even if you don't go into the house, the walks around and outside the grounds are really nice - some good pubs too!

Itโ€™s a "crisis" when immigrants "take jobs away", but "innovation" when machines do. Funny.

History suggests the work wouldn't have gone to the lowest bidder. It would have gone to the biggest Tory donor.

That should, of course, say "closing migrant hotels," but it was early, I've got fat fingers, and we're not allowed to edit.

Everyone's focus is what they aren't doing or what they've done wrong (helped by a media who've ignored everything wrong in the past 15 years) which is partly a a Labour PR issue, partly a complicit press but mostly whoever is responsible for giving NF every news cycle.

You mean like cutting hospital waiting lists, choosing migrant hotels, extra free childcare, free school meals for younger pupils, change to workers rights and change to housing tennant rights that have been done but barely reported (or reported as bad things by the other sides)?

Dickie Bird came to Nottingham once to do a speakers evening and he was as warm, funny and eccentric as you'd have hoped. Happy to pose for photos, sign autographs and just have a chat. We've lost a lovely character.
Great knock sir!

I'm just worried about what/who they'll blame next when they country is still in a shit state and all the "immigrants" have gone. It'll more than likely be the NHS (or what's left of it), Farage has said he's not a fan and it's the perfect "People getting stuff for free" platform they go after.

22.09.2025 13:11 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 5    ๐Ÿ” 1    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Do you really think Farage will give up his 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th job to become PM?

I believe the technical term is "nailed on" red card.
At least we can stop all the "too early to give a red" crap going forward now.

We both live in the house so, yes.
Do all of the Dyson family work in the business or do they just take tax-free dividend and director pension payments?
I will do what I can to change the system, thank you for your support.
