There’s been an old barbecue rotting at the bottom of our garden for at least 10 years, today I finally got round to calling the scrap metal people to collect and went to move it… and a little bird had made it’s home inside..

No I don’t have a nasal hair problem, just my eyebrows have very long roots.

I know that the second time I read it a whole section about the Russo-Japanese war surprised me because I’d totally forgotten about it. I think the dreamy nature of the stories in all his books mean that certain aspects of them are just buried in the subconscious until re-reading.

I’m going to re-read (again) and plan an entire calf based on the persimmon tree, with the bird, cat and the well in a Japanese style.
