And may it fall into the loving hands of the community you have built and supported. They will support you back.
If I could start over, I'd start doing this immediately.
PRODUCT: Now that you know what it takes to get attention to build an audience, you know your community well, and have their contact details, it's time to ideate the product/offering they need.
Now, it's time to work on your idea π‘.
COMMUNITY: Sign those people up to join a community where they can connect, learn more, and get to know each other.
Help this community in real and practical ways.
Build a Google groups, WhatsApp group, Mighty Networks community, or host regular Zooms or in-person events.
There's a new acronym sprouting up in the marketing community now called ACP:
AUDIENCE: First, build an audience of people who are interested in your vision and in solving the same problem. That's making excellent content and getting a social media following.
In fact, IMO, at least 80% of the work is attracting people's attention - just getting new people to see your idea.
It's no joke. There's a real science to getting the attention of thousands of people.
The funnel comes first. Way before you have an idea of what you want to make.
Once you've been in the pit a few times, you realize the art of impact is not to come up with a great idea and start building it (although that is fun).
An experienced climate entrepreneur or campaigner knows to work on the systems that attract people in - and that's where the real work lies.
If you've ever tried to make something, you've probably been here: The Pit of Engagement Dispiar.
I've done it many times.
First-time makers/founders always fall down here.
Have you been here? There's a reason why so many climate projects fail to thrive, die out completely, or go into that weird no-mans-land of indefinite hibernation.
People usually blame funding, or time, or whatever.
G'day, mate!

Steal my signature behavior mapping processπ
You can blame big oil and corporations, but in truth, the only relationship we can ultimately influence is with ourselves.
How deeply are you leaning into your creative flow, imagination, and curiosity?
That's where the explosion of energy to do world-changing environmental work comes from.
This is a "starter triad" like a sturdy 3-legged stool that your climate idea, startup, or program can thrive on.
Get these things right first and everything downhill will work.
Throw the keychain on the ground.

Before you do anything, create a pod.
If I could go back and change anything about my last 20 years in sustainability, I would have started with this.
