Man I love being a dad.

I know there will be tough times ahead, just as there have been tough times in the past but I've never been part of something so rewarding and beautiful.

So cool getting to help a little one grow. Even if sometimes he robs you of sleep and pukes on you.

My kiddo is 7 months old now but I felt like this the first 8 weeks or so.

Slowly but surely he slept longer, cried less, and needed fewer changes. My partner and I got into a rhythm too which is key.

I won't say it's all sunshine; there are hard moments. But there are greener pastures ahead.

Mint Oreo is my typical go-to as well! I've never tried the Reese's one. Will have to give that a go next.

It's definitely sweet! I only got a mini. Don't know if I could go bigger than that, haha.

I've been building a Model Context Protocol server for work the last week or so and am astonished at how terrible support for the actual specification is across all the popular AI clients.

Mermaid Charts are sweet; had a team member show them to me last week and having your diagrams exist alongside code as code is surprisingly ergonomic / useful.

I expected it to be a PIA as a big excalidraw user but I've found it all surprisingly simple to adapt to.

If you're using copilot in vscode you can see your "percentage used" but that's pretty much the only other place I've been able to find usage stats.

I have been a big time AI hater basically forever but I gotta say, I've been using MCP and agents to automate first-pass code review and drafting new issues and it has given me so much more time to just write good code (which AI still seemingly can't do)

got scared cause my wireless keyboard was dropping it's connection to my PC every 15 seconds. I restarted the PC and it hasn't happened in 30 minutes. I really didn't want to have to re-solder all those headers.

wild that programming on almost every level (ops, frontend, backend, etc) is just guiding someone down a path and then error management when they stray off that path.

Security locked down local admin on your windows machines? Install WSL and do everything in there. never use windows again! problem solved!

It's wild cause setting up services for log ingests and metric scraping is like 30-45 minutes of work. Then setting up tempo feels like fighting a bear while wearing a blind fold and oven mitts in -20c weather.

wild to me how little information there is about setting up Grafana Tempo. Seems like it could be insanely powerful and affordable tracing if done right.
