The STS Columbia disaster occurred on Feb 1, 2003. I'm a day late but I offer this photo in remembrance. She had completed her last PDM at Plant 42 but was rained in for a few days before departure. Two flights later was the end.

if it does fall apart you still might be able to extend it's life. My 30 year old viv 28/f2.5 got so loose the aper ring quit working. I disassembled everything until just the lens stack remained then used that as the basis for a diy tilt lens (see my pinned post for an example). It was an easy mod.

It's one of my favorites and was allegedly intended to be released as one of the original high quality Series 1 lenses before the idea was scrapped for marketing reasons. Do you have the S1 90/f2.5? It's Vivatar's (Tokina) best lens and was top 5 sharpest in the world when it came out.

The nearby beaches were beautiful, rum was dirt cheap and the chow hall was terrible.

Barely beating the highway closure in a race to get home, an idiot drives through the very large Station wildfire and sees electrical repairs taking place. The fire is actually burning on both sides of the road but is unseen at this angle. Orange smoke fills the sky while 2 workers on a sketchy platform splice high voltage power wires back together. Their platform is supported by a hook on the power wire at one end and a cable attached to the tower and supported by a helicopter flying closely above.

Emergency repairs on high voltage power wires during California's 2009 Station fire. I don't know what these people are paid but it's probably not enough.

An aircraft drops retardant on a smoky wildfire at the edge of the Angeles National Forest while another aircraft is circling back for the next pass. We were on evacuation alert but didn't get the order to leave. The retardant and the fire running out of trees as it moved from the forest to the desert helped the firefighters contain it. Pinon Hills, California

A large and deranged looking California gopher snake with it's jaw unhinged finishes up a squirrel in the shade of a broken-down Cushman scooter. Skeletons on the ground nearby indicated it was a good hunting spot but unfortunately for the local snakes, the scooter's no longer there.

If I hear someone described as #unhinged I don't see doors and missing hardware, I see this.
