At least two people were shot and killed, and 12 others were shot and wounded, late last night in downtown Montgomery during the Alabama National Fair. Police described the firearms used as “high capacity.”

This is preventable. We all deserve to enjoy a night out without fear of being shot.

Thelma Armstrong immigrated to the US from South Africa in 2019. She was dedicated to her family and was known in the community for her kindness and selflessness. Thelma’s sister-in-law says the family is “heartbroken, mourning the loss of a beloved mother, grandmother, and dear friend.”
