Great book of aesthetic analysis but maybe also showcases some of the issues around the idea of politics within an aesthetic framework.

I attended the first conference in 2016 and clearly remember one of the presenters opening their talk with something like: "I had a whole presentation prepared, but then I spent the summer reading Althusser". Who shouldn't?

Looking forward to present this year and meet all the other participants

I was reminded of his love of books. Every book is filled with newspaper clippings about the book - even the books by authors I reckon he didn't agree with politically. The picture above is just one example. He didn't have to do it, but he just needed to know every opinion about most of his books.

When he was young, as I understand it, he was a farmhand at my grandmother's farm. Books became his world, as his first wife was chronically ilI and had to stay inside a lot to care for her. While visiting my grandmother the week, she said I could look in his bookshelf.

My grandmother's husband died this spring. We weren't close, but I have good memories of watching Tom & Jerry with him as a child and being curious about all the different kinds of books he had. He was not an academic, but worked in a nursing home. His love of books inspired me as I grew older.

Why is the comparison wrong? What about ICE or how ICE operates demonstrates that it’s wrong?
