Woke up imagining masked ICE agents, pulled from right wing militias like the Proud Boys (from @gabrielwinant.bsky.social @thedigradio.bsky.social), detaining people of color in voting lines until after polls have closed.

A good place to start might be that the project that we sometimes call like neoliberal globalization is an instance of American or was an instance of American Empire, a particular strategy of American Empire, a way of relating the American ruling class to other national ruling classes that it sought to absorb into itself as subordinate partners to access the workforces that they had access to. That's a kind of classic version of what neoliberal globalization was, that by building a relationship with international diplomatic relationship with international ruling classes in poorer societies, that US capital would then be able to access cheaper labor. It obviously had a kind of harder edge in the forms of oppressive violence, either directly undertaken occasionally by US power or more often outsourced to different kinds of clients or undertaken covertly over the course of many decades.
The psychology of the non-US people who choose to work with #AtlasNetwork partner organisations is interesting. Conscious or unconscious of work to entrench their own local privilege? Less likely to be conscious that they’re tools of US economic empire #auspol #nzpol

Something @gabrielwinant.bsky.social noted on the latest episode of @thedigradio.bsky.social which resonated with me is that many people are turning to left leadership right now because at a time when so many liberal institutions have nothing to say about the rise of fascism, we're fighting back. 1/
