Idk, I’m biased… I think building aesthetically pleasing, distributed power generation & battery storage systems that circumvent the antiquated & ineffective utility monopolies on power distribution is kinda disruptive.

But I’m biased, I’m trying to get investors to see it too

Latest cancellation from the federal government chaos

A week later but the chaos & uncertainty continue.

Had the local bank call yesterday and inform me that they are out. They can no longer proceed with a $1.6M loan they’d approved.

I don’t want to, but at some point I have to call it quits & accept I’ve failed.

On the weekly PA Solar call this morning, there was a lot of conversation about the broad uncertainty we face.

Hopefully we get some clarity sooner than later 🤞

That’s what has me pulling my hair out. I’m a one man shop starting from the ground up. 40-50 year exclusive site control, most projects qualify for net metering, $35/ MWh SREC rates, 40% ITC, but struggling to raise the funds to pay for engineering & interconnection studies

I’m already struggling just to secure development capital for projects that total 100MW, I see this uncertainty as only complicating things

Honestly, that’s what concerns me. The sheer uncertainty. Everything I’ve read and my attempts to be optimistic have cautiously neutral. It seems like the politics make massive changes impractical, at least in the short term. However my more pressing concern is surrounding access to capital.

The economic impact of using locally produced power is greater than imported power. Every dollar that stays in a community has a multiplier effect. Parallel industries appear. Energy abundance means cheap power and that is a massive driver of economic growth

True. A lot of voices want to treat it as zero sum. You can argue about what’s wrong or celebrate what’s right. You can’t build momentum focusing on what’s wrong.

I truly believe leading the renewable energy discussion as a local economic development opportunity for growth and jobs is a more effective way to gain support than arguing about environmental impacts. We need a message that resonates with opposition viewpoints. #EnergySky should help frame it

By demo, I mean “beta test” and provide feedback

Most states don’t have formal #community #solar programs. That makes it difficult for small biz & individuals to support the #energy #transition. I’m building a platform in my spare time that allows crowd sourcing off-take to help projects go from idea to reality. Any #energysky folks want to demo?

I think you nailed it. The problem is that it’s there is a lot of reactionary messaging. It’s defensive in response to big oil misinformation. There needs to be much more investment on proactive messaging re: real energy independence, local resiliency, affordability, etc.

The growth in #energysky members has been really impressive. Seems like the content is a lot more optimistic. Keep it up! #energy #power #grid #DER
