GOOD NEWS! Researchers have developed a new mRNA vaccine that has been shown to suppress abnormal blood vessel growth in the retina, offering hope to MILLIONS of patients with age-related vision loss. The vaccine triggered strong antibody responses that REDUCED retinal damage by UP TO 85%.

This is a box crab ๐Ÿ“ฆ๐Ÿฆ€, likely Calappa calappa (from a Malay word meaning "coconut").

They're also called 'shame-faced crabs' because they pull their massive claws (chelae) in front of their face when alarmed.

Why are they squirting? This is a way of moving water over their gills to keep them wet.

Nasal spray shows promise in preventing COVID in clinical trials An over-the-counter nasal spray, long used as a treatment for seasonal allergies, may offer potential in preventing COVID, according to clinical trial results released today.

"Researchers have found that Azelastine Nasal Spray works against a variety of illnesses, including the flu, RSV and the virus that causes COVID. Despite these promising findings, experts emphasize that the nasal spray should not be considered a substitute for vaccinations."

These little beauties are often very tricky to photograph but managed a few of this in the garden recently: good enough to get it IDed on FB BWARS site as Pseudomalus triangulifer. Apparently only recently recognised as a UK sp. so I've no idea how common it is.

First I've ever photographed so happy it stayed on and behaved so well.

Want to learn something about #water and #climate change?
A simple approximation is that for every degree C of warming, the atmosphere holds 7% more water. That's one factor behind the growing number of extreme flooding events.

Vaccine triggers fierce response to fight brain tumor ยป McKnight Brain Institute ยป University of Florida UF-developed mRNA vaccine quickly reprogrammed the immune system to attack glioblastoma.

Five years ago, a very close relative died of a glioblastoma brain tumor at the age of 13. Today would have been his 19th birthday. And now comes news that an mRNA vaccine is being trialed to treat this very (incurable) malady. Fingers crossed.
