On a downtown street in Minneapolis, as people stream out from the massive march, Mary Tyler Moore says “fuck ice.”

I’m visiting New York from Minnesota and really enjoyed this exhibit at the Met. Morrison was a lover of jazz and there is jazz from his favorite artists playing softly in the background - the only music I heard at the Met. Last Sept I heard his son Briand play a in Grand Marais on a foggy day.

Dating from around 1865, this hooded parka from the Aleutian Islands in southern Alaska is made from seal intestines, a naturally waterproof & windproof material. Both robust & decorative, these seal gut parkas would have been used daily to keep warm & dry in this harsh environment.

Visited a press conference for a twin cities suburb - Richfield - at a target parking lot where Target permitted ice agents to arrest two workers. one of their city council members, Rori Coleman-Woods, made clear that ICE is not welcome in Richfield.

by Amanda Gorman
They say she is no more, That there her absence roars, Blood-blown like a rose.
Iced wheels flinched & froze.
Now, bare riot of candles, Dark fury of flowers, Pure howling of hymns.
If for us she arose,
Somewhere, in the pitched deep of our grief, Crouches our power,
The howl where we begin,
Straining upon the edge of the crooked crater Of the worst of what we've been.
Change is only possible, & all the greater, When the labour
& bitter anger of our neighbors
Is moved by the love
* better angels of our nature.

Remembering today that having your heart broken is a necessary step on the path to becoming fully human. Whichever heartbreak is your first, it’s probably critical that a state break your heart so that you can develop a political imagination. If this is your first, I’m sorry and also welcome.

Ex-Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura: “We’re a 3rd world country now. I know. I’ve been to ‘em. I spent 17 months in SE Asia while the draft dodger was playing golf… that’s what happens in a dictatorship. In comes the military. That’s what’s happening here.” 🇺🇸

Yes it’s a very wide street and other vehicles could easily get around her vehicle

Kristi Noem keeps saying the ICE vehicles were stuck in the snow. How bad was that driver? Yesterday it was 38 degrees with slushy snow but Portland Ave was clear. If I can navigate around town in my vehicle just fine how did they get stuck in their big SUVs and pickups? #minneapolis

A washing machine repair person told me never use pods and Tide is the worst detergent for gumming up the machine. Pods are made for the hugest loads and most loads are smaller. Use a small amount of detergent.

Our government is attacking public schools. It used to be just with rhetoric and bad policy and now it’s with armed thugs.

I walked down Portland Ave twice today - there is no way the trucks and SUVs driven by ICE were stuck. It was 38 degrees and sunny in Minneapolis today and the wide one way street was not full of snow. The sidewalks and alleys were treacherous with icy slush, but not the street.

After the assassination of Melissa Hortman it’s not hard to understand why a woman in Minnesota would be afraid of a man in a mask who says he’s a cop.
