So when the content gets TO the platform it's within scope. The tool itself is not.
I think. But correct me anyone who's more in the know
Presumably because those tools land outside of the scope of the OSA, being neither a user-to-user or a search service?

I think every community manager can learn from Bluesky's transparency report. It's readable, and helpful.
The biggest takeaway for me is that they recognise the importance of human moderation for complex and nuanced issues.
Even with AI tools, you still need human oversight.

Sounds like eugenics to me.
Anyone who doesn't know who was a fan of eugenics - look it up. You'll be disappointed, but not surprised.
Two lightly golden pitta style flatbreads on a white plate
I'm loving how easy these two ingredient flatbreads are...
I roll them in a little olive oil and flour and make them in a pitta type shape, cooking with a light drizzle of oil

A moment later, the dog owner appears, on her phone. Classic gap in the fence scenario.
Yes, my folks are convinced the dog has three 'boyfriends' - a local poodle, yorkie and breed undetermined. Life, eh?

It's 4pm (finally it's light at this time in the UK!), and we're 5 minutes into our walk. A woman stops her car and steps out with a dog, holding it by the collar and speaking on her phone with the other hand. A lost dog.
I notice her direction and say, 'no sorry, that dog doesn't live there'. Why?
I know other #dogwalking folks will understand this.
You get to know other dogs, their owners and families, the routes they take and where they probably live.
Your dog forms alliances, has dalliances, or develops beef with other dogs.
Which is why I said something frankly bizarre earlier...
THIS is the direct result of turning away from reliable health information and promoting misinformation, myths, and worse.
It's a shame that the US (and other parts of the world like parts of the UK) are giving us a tangible and deadly example of the damage misinformation does.
Delicious punwork

Expect more fun news stories like this in the future, and more misinformation coming your way from older people you're connected to online...

Additional research shows that the over-60s are at increased risk of failing to detect misinformation, disinformation, scams and fake content.
We don't see any calls to ban them from social media, because it wouldn't help anyone.

A white, British, older man has been arrested by counter-terrorism police after risking the lives of others in an explosion.
Further reporting shows he was influenced (arguably radicalised) by misinformation online.

On almost everything โ fraud, polarisation, radicalisation, misinformation โ evidence suggests that over 60s are in much more urgent need of online protection and education than teenagers.
But that issue gets zero political attention, and is a total non-starter. Nothing good will come of it.
Strong Boaty McBoatface energy here. Nice.

Today is Community Manager Appreciation Day.
I see you and I appreciate you.
And I've been there - I know that this appreciation matters.
This year's CMAD meme needs a little Jon Hamm euphoria...

Our heroine returns to find ML sitting in the dark, all in black
Another decent speech for our ML, as he presents her with ring number 3
What will she say?
And will we see her suitcase make a final appearance?
