That's how I'm feeling with the latest FFXIV expansion. The story was kinda meh, but the combat encounters have been great, so it feels like around a 7-8 out of 10 to me overall. And yet everyone's dooming hard and saying the expac was horrible and review bombing it. It's wild.

Considering the safety cert system in the US is essentially "Trust me bro", I'd be more surprised if they were LEGAL in the EU.

In Shadows of Mordor, I did every sidequest, got every collectible, maxed out my skill tree completely. And just...stopped before the final boss. Literally the only thing in my quest log was "Defeat Sauron" and I just closed the game and never played again, lmao.

There are 2 types of reaction to clearing Chaotic after going through a 2% enrage and 0.2% enrage with the same group.

If grinding the Chaotic Alliance Raid for 9 hours today has taught me anything, it's that some people desperately need to work on their patience. We have an enrage pull on a reclear party and instantly lose 5 people. You REALLY think spending 20 minutes in PF is faster than just doing another pull?

Also don't know if it counts because I play the game every week, but the story of FFXIV up through Endwalker is incredible, and will probably stick with me for many years to come.

Every now and then I think about Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. That game really sticks with you. It has one of my favorite instances of "story telling through gameplay" that I've ever experienced. Can't describe it without spoiling, but DAMN is it good.

I think I also prefer S1 because I started to see the formula for the storytelling a bit. Any time it feels like things are going too well, you KNOW it's not going to work out. I hadn't been conditioned to expect that yet in S1, so the twists hit really hard, but in S2 I was waiting for them lol.

While I think I prefer the 1st season personally, I also didn't find the pacing of S2 to actively bother me in the moment like it did for some people.

I think I would've enjoyed it MORE with a couple extra episodes (especially for Mel's storyline) but I still thought it was a phenomenal season.

Previously it was a grey area for me under the "remakes of previous mainline games" category but I guess it's mainline now.

To be fair, mainline vs spinoff wasn't a mark of quality for me. Link's Awakening DX for the GBC is one of my favorite Zelda games, and I was considering it a spinoff lol.

Huh, I never realized how much my definition of mainline fell outside the norm until looking it up just now. I always thought it was pretty much your big marquee releases like your OOT, TP, SS, with everything else being spinoffs. Never realized the Gameboy and 3DS games were considered mainline.

The only two I'm considering to be mainline Zeldas on it are BotW and TotK. I personally consider Echos of Wisdom to be a spinoff. And I don't consider HD remakes of older Zelda games to count either.

Probably could've been more specific in my initial wording.

Honestly, I find it very unlikely we're going to get a 3rd mainline Zelda on the Switch. We're probably gonna see a new console announced and released at least a year out from the next one. I AM curious whether they'll stick with open world format or move back to a more traditional Zelda structure.

Super relatable. I'm going through it now, and my 2nd monitor has 2-3 wiki tabs, and a bunch of tabs with various class builds at any given moment.

Christmas became much more enjoyable when I started proactively sending a Christmas list a month or two ahead of time.

If I understand the gripe correctly, it's because instead of having a single overleveled pokemon, your entire team is overleveled, and it removes the small amount of challenge was there.

I don't care because I don't play pokemon to be challenged, but I understand the reasoning.

Just finished a 100% playthrough of DQ11 earlier today, and I never changed off the option to play DQ8 music the entire playthrough. This song is just way too good as overworld music.

My friends and I were talking about the new cards after the expansion dropped. And every time someone was reading a new card's description I'd be like "Wait, lemme guess the first line. 'Flip a coin'".

Watched Transformers One last night. It's really too had I had no idea this movie came out while it was in theaters. I really enjoyed it, and it's sad to know a sequel probably won't happen because it flopped so hard.

I think the more pressing question for me is "Why do fries and a drink add almost 7 dollars to the price?"

Said friends are having a great time with it, so it sounds like it's as good or better than OW. But if you don't want that gameplay, you might wanna steer clear lol.

My friends were trying some characters in discord, and a lot of the time they'd try the kit and go "Ahhh so this is Genji without a dash reset." Or "Ohhhh this is junk rat with a different ult"

Yeah, it's frustrating because I think a lot of the time, it comes down to the company putting very limited resources into it, so there's only a handful of people working on it. A lot of remasters are just viewed as an easy cash grab.
