They are not friends to the Trade Union Movement any more.

I'm not actively involved now because the moment I tried I was swamped with a list of training and trips and mandatory time commitments, with no flexibility or chance to discuss my actual needs.

Stop putting barriers up to involvement.

I support trade unions. I'm in one. I used to be a branch officer.

But also, many are failing through top-heavy structures, lack of accountability at a local level and rampant cronyism.

My local branch doesn't have an LGBTQIA officer at all, because they hounded out the last three.

Stop saying "Will trans men be welcomed into women's spaces?" as some kind of rhetorical gotcha, as though trans men have not been beaten and KILLED after being FORCED into women's spaces.

Your ignorance of trans men's oppression due to their invisiblisation does NOT a clever comeback make.

There are reasons not to go. Physical & mental health, acess, money, family, work. But a lot of people will just choose to go shopping instead, or decide their gardening is more important, or just... not want the inconvenience. To them, to you if that's your choice, I say "must be nice. Fuck off."

We can't win with smug "gotcha" arguments.

We win by refusing to lose.

It took less than 48 hours for the Supreme Court judgement to lead to actual harm to actual people. Don't tell me what the exact wording is. I've read it. So have the bigots and the fascists and the propagandists and they do not give a FUCK about pedantry.

If not, if you aren't willing to make an effort or suffer a mild inconvenience, never EVER say you are a trans supporter again. You are part of the problem.

If you say you are a trans ally, a "safe person", a supporter of human rights, you better be doing your best to get to a protest this weekend. You'd better be actively looking for your nearest rally or march or demo. You'd better be ready to stand at our sides.

Really hoping something happens in Cardiff. Welsh Government is better with trans rights (not necessarily great, but better) and they need to be reminded to do more.

Does anyone know of Cardiff protests this weekend? I can't travel further, but by gawd I wanna wave a placard or *something*.

This is a really important part of discrimination legislation as it stands. If you share *or are perceived/ believed to share* one of the enshrined Protected Characteristics in the Equality Act, and are harassed or discriminated against on that basis, you (should be) protected.

Also, to try and fight the wave of doom: that speech included reinforcement of the concept of "discrimination by association". In blunt terms, if a trans woman is harassed for being trans OR being a woman, the EA protected characteristics apply.

A friend has cancelled her big Las Vegas wedding: she's lost deposits, but given she had about twenty trans* folk on the guest list she decided she'd rather have a small home wedding.

Oh good, a gas leak. That'll possibly be why I've had headaches whenever I've been costume-sewing, then, as it seems there's been a slow gas leak into my sewing room for "maybe weeks".

If even the cis, white, older people leading this org (which is far from a progressive, on-the-ball org) can see how fucking awful things are, we've passed a marker point I didn't even know was there. I'm glad that there is awareness and support. I am. But also, I'm terrified at that meaning... 2/

I had a meeting with a senior leader in my org today to discuss ways forward for the staff LGBTQIA+ network. I'm genuinely shaken by openly he discussed the fear and horror of our current situation. Shaken, because I've grown used to being told I'm over-reacting, that I'm too pessimistic. 1/

Sometimes I think I need a day without rage. Realistically, that means a day entirely disconnected from all social and news media.

It's my birthday next week, and I'm gonna aim for that. One day without gnawing horror, aching fear, burning rage and overwhelming sadness. One day.

I genuinely never thought it'd come to it but yeah, this British guy is now planning escape routes. Imma watch where my US sibs find safety, and maybe need to follow them.

Tell you what: a final mission on The Traitors that i not only *could* do, but actively *want* to do? My reasons not to apply are shrinking.
