A four panel comic strip. An anthropomorphic wolf man runs into an office where three others are working at their desks. He says, "The fire marshal is coming for annual inspections!" In the next panel, a seated wolf is playing with a remote control airplane, and a smoke detector with an open battery compartment is mounted on the wall above him. The first wolf says "Put that 9 volt back in the smoke detector!" In the third panel, an anthropomorphic dog holds a power strip while standing next to a sculpture comprised of multiple power strips. The first wolf says "Hide your..."Daisy Chain Power Strip" sculpture!?" In the fourth panel, a bear proudly displays his t-shirt which reads "I love storing combustibles around radiators." The first wolf, in exasperation, yells "CHANGE YOUR SHIRT!"

Page from a reading primer. Text on the page reads:
"Let me go and see the
cat and the dog to-day.
That man has got a fig.
Go and ask him for it.
That lad has got an eel."
There is a b&w line drawing/etching showing the things in the reading. There is a man in a tall hat with a cane who is likely holding a fig (it's hard to tell, honestly). He is standing in front of a fence and some trees, as if he has been taking his fig for a walk in the woods. But he's wearing what might be riding boots. Has his horse been eaten by woods wolves?
In front of him is a boy holding an eel in his right hand. His left hand is on his hip, and his legs are thin and reedy. His stance says that he is defiant, but also that he's ready to make his escape if things go badly. This lad isn't giving up his eel, even for a man with a fig.
Between the two of them a dog is chasing a cat. In the distance is a house; we can assume that the lad lives there, and that it is completely full of eel skins and skeletons.
Friends...it's Wednesday. Do you feel like something is missing?
It's the eels. You haven't had enough eels in your day yet. Let me fix that!
Here...have a page from Mrs. Sherwood's 1822 primer.

On a lighter note before taking a break from here...
The Death of Stalin is one of my all time favourite films, but I always find this behind-the-scenes still hilarious because there's just something about a pose that looks like "Marshall Zhukov takes a selfie with the lads" that's inherently funny

My Grandpa, US-born, was sent to Japan to live with relatives after his dad died while he was still a kid. When he came back to the US, his mom had remarried and for whatever reason, his stepdad's name was listed incorrectly as his family name on entry forms. He decided to not dispute the change.

A formline design of a cocoon and an emerging butterfly, coloured in the same shades as the transgender flag. The cocoon has half of a human face on it, and the butterfly’s wings are made of human hands.
An assortment of formline stickers. The designs include a hyena, a chickadee, an otter head, a capybara, and a harbor seal.

Detective Columbo stands behind a wooden table with two irregular cow tools in it. He holds a 3rd cow tool and looks at it with his other hand scratching his head. He says, "Gee these tools are really something, aren't they? Y'know, my wife, she says they lack sophistication. But I just think that adds to the charm... Say... Don't they usually come in a set of four?"
Caption below the panel reads, "Cowlumbo tools."

But too many of the slaves died in captivity. And so Columbus, desperate to pay back dividends to those who had in-vested, had to make good his promise to fill the ships with gold. In the province of Cicao on Haiti, where he and his men imagined huge gold fields to exist, they ordered all persons fourteen years or older to collect a certain quantity of gold every three months. When they brought it, they were given copper tokens to hang around their necks. Indians found without a copper token had their hands cut off and bled to death.
The Indians had been given an impossible task. The only gold around was bits of dust garnered from the streams. So they fled, were hunted down with dogs, and were killed.
After each six or eight months' work in the mines, which was the time required of each crew to dig enough gold for melting, up to a third of the men died.
While the men were sent many miles away to the mines, the wives remained to work the soil, forced into the excruciating job of digging and making thousands of hills for cassava plants.
Thus husbands and wives were together only once every eight or ten months and when they met they were so exhausted and depressed on both sides... they ceased to pro-create. As for the newly born, they died early because their mothers, overworked and fam-ished, had no milk to nurse them, and for this reason, while I was in Cuba, 7000 children died in three months. Some mothers even drowned their babies from sheer desper-ation.... In this way, husbands died in the mines, wives died at work, and children died from lack of milk ... and in a short time this land which was so great, so powerful and fer-tile... was depopulated... My eyes have seen these acts so foreign to human nature, and now I tremble as I write....
Please remember that the disgust people have over Christopher Columbus is not based on some modern, 21st century “woke” ideology, but rather on contemporaneous accounts of atrocities that make many modern genocides appear quaint in comparison.
Below, are the accounts of Bartlomé de las Casas.
