This would be a very insidious precedent if the cancellation happened, since it implies literally ANYTHING happening behind closed doors involving consenting parties can still be policed if anyone unrelated and not in attendance has a problem with it. That essentially bans things 100% outright.

OK then. Is there a software equivalent to the concept of "jumping the shark"? i.e. the point after which the software has basically been optimised/perfected, but they continue to fiddle? It feels common enough that there should be a term for that.

I'm seeing weird stalls/failures of Face ID vs. iOS 18.x. (One of many disappointments with iOS 26.) It's definitely less snappy than I've become accustomed to. Though I still use an iPhone 12 Mini. Perhaps they didn't give too much care to performance on "legacy" hardware?

I've yet to find a single change in iOS 26 that makes me think "yeah, this way works better." But I've found many things that are clumsier and/or more buried than they used to be.
