Brexit has done nothing to stem sharp decline of UK fish populations, shows study Experts call for urgent strategy to end overfishing as report shows just 41% of stocks of species such as cod and mackerel considered healthy

The UK’s populations of fish such as cod, herring and mackerel are still being “grossly mismanaged” by politicians and overfished, despite hitting unhealthy levels, a study has found.

Starving children screaming for food as US aid cuts unleash devastation and death across Myanmar U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has repeatedly said “no one has died" because of his government’s decision to gut its foreign aid program.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio insisted “no one has died” as a result of U.S. foreign aid cuts. In Myanmar, the grieving father of a 2-year-old boy who died after their food rations were cut calls such claims a lie.

Brits could be banned from holiday homes under EU's 90-day rule The EU has ordered member states to apply the 90/180-day rule 'rigidly', meaning Brits who overstay could be hit with hefty fines of up to £8,700 and even ten-year bans from entering the bloc.

The headline should read: Since 2020, Brits could be banned from the EU due to Brexit removing our status, freedoms, and opportunities as European citizens. Now it will be harder to cheat the 90/180 rule.

Also another example of the UK tabloids hating it when the EU takes 'control' of its borders

Another benefit of Brexit ... the UK has returned to its traditional role as the dirty man of Europe.

Takes some doing, but I think Kemi Badenoch has found the policies to tank the economy even quicker than Liz Truss if given the chance.

Fantasy tax and spending cuts plus trade chaos with neighbours from leaving the ECHR. Great stuff!

Incidentally English graduates are in demand by tech companies who need to translate what they do into understandable language for their business customers in particular.

But why let facts get in the way of a stupid soundbite?

'Abject failure' as UK's homeless deaths rise - including children The government's homelessness minister, Alison McGovern MP, has described the increased number of deaths as an "abject failure that cannot be tolerated".

1,611 homeless Britons died last yr, including 11 children & babies under the age of one.

Contrary to Suella Braverman, homelessness isn't a lifestyle. It is a failure of society.

Yet govts cut wages/benefits, public services, local council funding; no curbs on profiteering.

How civilised are we?

“The failure of carbon offsets to cut planet-heating pollution is “not due to a few bad apples”, a review paper has found, but down to deep-seated systemic problems that incremental change will not solve.

And the new UN rules won’t solve those problems either.

Rachel Reeves clears planning blockage amid ‘good relationship’ with developer Exclusive: Chancellor says 20,000 homes were being held up due to ‘some snails that are a protected species or something’

Utterly beholden to lobbyists, staggeringly ignorant and dismissive of the natural world: Rachel Reeves might not look or sound like Donald Trump, but she is behaving very much like him. This government is even more of an ecological hazard than the Tories were.

Attacks on European Convention on Human Rights
The Little Englanders continue to attack and denigrate the ECHR, while failing completely to understand the immensely wide protections that this offers to British citizens and of course all the other member states in Europe
Pathetic

The government must ensure fair distribution of income 'The average real wage of workers has hardly moved from the 2008 level whilst bosses never had it so good.'

Richest 1% has more wealth than 70% of UK population combined.

Top 20% own two-thirds of wealth, receive 36% of income.

Bottom 20% own 0.5% of wealth, receive 9% of income.

Can't grow economy or have social stability.

Poverty is political choice. Which political party wants to address this?

GB News' homophobic slur breached Ofcom code – but channel won't face any sanctions Ofcom has said GB News breached its Broadcasting Code over the use of a homophobic slur, but have refused to sanction the channel.

Ofcom took *six months* to decide to take no action after thousands complained about this very blatant breach of broadcasting standards by GB News.

But perhaps the real surprise is that they investigated it at all… /1

Starmer faces cabinet revolt over Budget tax rises driving wealthy away ‘The trouble is we have crossed a line in trying to encourage aspiration. The non-dom change and the VAT on school fees have sent the opposite message,’ minister tells The Independent

Starmer faces cabinet revolt over tax rises that could drive wealthy away. Ridiculous.

KPMG fined £710,937.50 for dud audit of N Brown Group.

Fines are just another cost of doing Nelsonian audits, passed to other customers

Audits by big firms are worthless, but highly profitable. Partners collect millions, exploit state guaranteed market.

This is a lie.

There are many criticisms you might sensibly and truthfully make of the Sentencing Council and the Sentencing Guidelines. I’ve been making them for years.

But this is an outright lie. Pure fabrication. A fraud on the public.
