Petrostate politicos & supporters unknowingly or knowingly constantly fall for the Primary Energy Fallacy.
EVs are ~3X more energy efficient than oil burners.

I have my doubts. US auto industry is falling behind in the EV transition. EVs will be near 50% of global auto sales by 2030. The peak of oil burning cars was about 7 years ago. Now their decline will quicken.
US auto industry is tying its future to a declining market.
