I’m with you except I do think e-textbooks would still be a good thing. Most of my engineering class had shoulder or back pain from lugging textbooks back and forth each day.
But I can’t learn or remember if I don’t have to write things down so I’m all for “taking notes” by hand.

A graphic in pink, blue, and green that illustrates how recent many Black History events are to the current day -- ranging from 1619 to 2024.
I'm sure we've all seen the graphic that lays out the United States ' relationship with slavery. It's good, but I never thought it was quite impactful enough. So I made my own.
I've used a few key events, including my birth, to highlight how recent these events are in history.
1 square = 1 year.

I’m shocked, shocked.
Wait till the impact of making a ton of their lower income users broke becomes obvious.
Because gambling so often ends that way.

A friend tried to tell me that right now 1 in 5 Londoners gets mugged on a regular basis.
My jaw dropped. “What the heck news sources are you on these days?” I said.
I told her that in the face of renewed interest in the EU the forces of evil are back in operation in the Uk.
The rich that is.

These are warehouses. Where are the water supplies going to come from? Where will the human waste products be handled and treated?
Warehouses are built to support maybe a few dozen people using water and waste.
If the local people don’t raise a stink there will soon be a stink.

Since their so-called customer support has been spectacularly useless any time we needed it in the past, I don’t imagine most users will even notice when AI starts botching things.

Better tell the employers who fired almost everyone I know over the age of 55 through “redundancies” and “right-sizing” over the past 30-40 years.

People forget that Rubella (once called German Measles) causes birth defects when pregnant women catch it.
Because that hasn’t happened to people in NA for a long time.
It’s part of the MMR vaccination.
We are in crazy times.

Maryland health officials warn providers about an upsurge in mumps cases
Maryland health officials are warning about an uptick in cases of mumps.
Measles is a bellwether. Because it’s the most contagious vaccine-preventable disease, when vaccination rates drop, it’s the first to start spreading.
Now we’ve got mumps rolling up.
Expect more.
This is just the beginning of RFK Jr.’s successful infectious disease reintroduction plan.

People who blithely state “we should get rid of X regulation” should be invited to spend a month in a country (or even a US state) where that regulation does not exist or is not enforced.
Live where the people there actually live.
That might learn something very uncomfortable.

I mean, saying it’s okay if you breathe poisoned air, or eat poisoned food, or drink poisoned water, because you will be able to pay the doctors, assuming you survive the poison, is some kind of answer.

Every year the BLS does a benchmark revision which incorporates new and more detailed information. This year's revision suggests that 2025 was a far worse year than earlier estimates suggested, and total job growth was less than half that suggested by the initial estimates.

There is no way that the food, water and waste infrastructure exists in these facilities for what is intended.
Local communities should be outraged at what is happening inside, but also what will be happening outside, if these are indeed all converted to prisons.
