25.11.2025 20:26 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Ok so this is actually from a couple of days ago now but I'm just getting caught up on posting alltheplaces. My second project on the Pendleton floor loom is in motion! #weaving #slowcloth #floorloom #fiberarts
17.11.2025 02:50 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0She's home! My refurbished 4 shaft 30" Pendleton floor loom made the trip from my Parents' house to my home studio safe and sound earlier today. #weaving #fiberarts #floorloom
12.11.2025 04:52 β π 23 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Thanks so much! π

08.11.2025 20:29 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Fnished the small test warp on the refurb 4 shaft Pendleton floor loom! My beat & selvages are still inconsistent but I'm feeling comfortable at the loom & I'm ridiculously proud of this strip of handwoven web. If the weather cooperates we're planning to move her home on Tues! π€ #weaving #fiberarts

02.11.2025 01:42 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm officially in my floor loom weaving era!!!! Unspeakably proud of this wonky little bit of weaving. Now it's practice, practice, practice. But not until at least Monday. Resting time. #weaving #slowcloth #floorloom #fiberarts
02.11.2025 00:36 β π 26 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0I hope you find something that will work! π€
31.10.2025 03:36 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Not sure if this info transfers to a Rasmussen but I've read from someone who does a lot of loom maintenance/refurbishing that you can use screen door springs from the hardware store to replace Macomber brake springs. Maybe worth a shot?
31.10.2025 03:28 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Floor loom reassembly is complete! A couple of small things to dial in still but that will happen Sat when I go over to put the test warp on. Tomorrow is definitely a rest day! #weaving #floorloom
31.10.2025 03:23 β π 10 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We got so much done today on the 4 shaft Pendleton floor loom with installing replacement parts and doing most of the major reassembly! Rest day tomorrow but we should be able to tackle the rest on Thursday. Initial function tests are looking good! #weaving #floorloom #fiberarts
28.10.2025 22:14 β π 11 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Good to know, thanks!
24.10.2025 17:30 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0So exciting!! She's stunning. What kind of sizing treatment are you planning to use?
24.10.2025 14:43 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Absolutely! My rigid heddle loom flips upside down and becomes a small warping board but it's going to be wonderful to have a larger stand alone one as I move to the floor loom. I usually use an attachment on my cordless drill to wind bobbins but I think having a manual option is key!
23.10.2025 14:07 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I haven't even gotten into counting the wire heddles on the Dorothy table loom yet but it's great to know that if I need to supplement I can and I'm less concerned about abrasion from the steel heddles on the table loom which will have less tension and shorter warps than the floor loom.
22.10.2025 16:23 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Three hundred and forty four flat steel heddles that are nine and a half inches long are bundled onto zip ties and laid on top of some newspaper on Kelli's dye table.
The Pendleton loom came with 344 9.5" flat steel heddles. Too few to weave my kitchen towels. I decided to do a full replacement with inserted eye heddles (B-day present), keeping the old ones for backups after cleaning/oiling them. In a stroke of kismet the table loom takes...9.5" heddles! #weaving
22.10.2025 16:20 β π 7 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I can't wait to put them to the best use I can!
22.10.2025 14:33 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0π€£ Yeah we gotta get the Landlord onto building me out a loom room.
22.10.2025 14:19 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The 4 shaft 15.75" Dorothy table loom needs a cloth beam crank but the reed looks salvageable with a little corrosion removal and otherwise I think it just needs cleaning. I haven't really gotten the best look down inside it yet but the levers do function properly.
22.10.2025 14:18 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yes I'm so grateful and excited! For years she's been half joking about me inheriting her huuuuge counterbalance loom (which we would never have room for) and she seemed really happy to be able to pass some things along that will get a loving new home and put to good use again. π
22.10.2025 14:14 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The warping board was the thing I really needed ASAP and this one was handmade by her Aunt so it's extra special! It does need reglueing of some pegs but that's easy peasy. The bobbin winder just needs a drive band and it's compatible with the Leclerc storage spools which is perfect!
22.10.2025 14:04 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm overwhelmed with gratitude! The Leclerc rocking weaving bench is the exact one I was hoping to someday aquire since the long term goal is an 8 shaft 32" Macomber and this is the only commercial bench I've seen that adjusts high enough for a Mac and has the angle adjustment as well.

On the day the Pendleton loom came to me my Wife happened to be heading out of town to visit her family for a few days. While there she got a chance to see her Aunt who in addition to being a fantastic human was a weaver for many years. Rae came back with a car full of goodies for me! #weaving
22.10.2025 13:41 β π 13 π 0 π¬ 6 π 0A photo collage showing two images. The left photo is of a largely disassembled four shaft Pendleton X frame floor loom sitting on a blue tarp in a kitchen. The right photo shows some of the smaller wooden loom parts like the treadle assembly laid out on a piece of cardboard on a kitchen table. The wood on both photos is clean but very dry and light colored.
A photo collage showing four images. The top two photos show a side and front angle of the largely disassembled four shaft Pendleton X frame floor loom from the first photo collage. Newspapers have been laid down between the tarp and the loom. The bottom two photos show some of the other loom parts that have been removed for cleaning and reconditioning laid out on a piece of cardboard and some newspaper on a kitchen table. The wood in all of the photos has gotten two coats of Howard's Feed and Wax and is considerably darker, warmer and healthier looking compared to the before state.
Update on the Pendleton loom refurbishment! It's progressing beautifully & today we started replenishing the extremely dry wood. Left is after cleaning but before conditioning. Right is after 2 coats of Howard's Feed & Wax. Replacement parts are on their way & then we can start reassembly! #weaving

Yesterday a dear friend passed along to me a 4 shaft 30" weaving width Pendleton floor loom!! She needs some TLC, a couple of small repairs & some replacement parts but my Parents are helping me with the refurb and we've already made a ton of progress! #weaving #slowcloth #floorloom #fiberarts

Two piles of string heddles lay on Kelli's desk. In the lefthand pile the loops are larger. The righthand pile contains fewer string heddles and the loops have been knotted a second time to reduce the size of the loop in the string. One string heddle from each pile sits separated in the middle to show the difference.
Pickup stick & heddle rod are all set! Need to wind some weft & the weaving can begin! I haven't woven 3/1 twill since my first towel project in 2017. Luckily I still had all my string heddles tucked safely away but I remember them being a bit too long so I spent time shortening them all. #weaving
