Thanks! I got it from the Organic Cotton Plus website. This is my first time using it but so far I'm quite pleased. A bit more lint left behind in the rinse pots than the cottolin I've dyed but not substantially so and it took the dye beautifully. We'll see how the finished cloth performs.

Because of the stripes this time I secured my warp chains to the front support by a choke tie, draped the cross end over the heddle & threaded sitting at the back of the loom. I'll tie onto the back apron rod, beam the warp and then insert the front heddle and thread it before tying onto the front.

Oh interesting! I haven't done the modified F2B I'm doing here before but I need to split some of my warp chains into smaller stripes as I thread. I always do my threading in the heddle blocks though. I put the back heddle in the front blocks, thread it first & then move it back & thread the front.

A series of hand dyed warp chains have been secured to the horizontal front support of the loom with ties and have also been wrapped around the support to keep the chains from dangling down too near the floor and sparking the curiousity of a certain tortie kitty. The ends of the warp chains have been threaded front to back in the first step of double heddle threading. The ends are secured with slip knots in one inch warp sections and flipped back over the top of the heddle.

A kitchen sink leak threw a wrench into things around here (ha) but today I finally started getting this warp on the loom. The back heddle is threaded and if I'm up for it tomorrow I will tie on to the back apron and beam the warp.

Absolutely! I think it will be more ergonomic for me to wind from a vertically hung board as well. I prop my loom stand at the best angle I can when I'm winding but I'm definitely not doing my shoulder any favors because I'm reaching instead of being able to stand and move my whole body as I wind.

Nice! I love a 2-in-1 tool but I'm at the point now where one part of the process is being held up too often and I'm wasting brain energy and time.

A fifteen inch Schacht Cricket rigid heddle loom sits on Kelli's desk. It has been warped in stripes of hand dyed six ply hemp yarn. The colors are a sandy gold, navy, a silvery driftwood grey and a medium blue. Weaving is in progress with the same yarns being used for the weft in color blocks. Short ends of weft stick out on the surface of the web from split joins. Two stick shuttles are laid across the warp. One is wound with the navy yarn and the other with the silvery driftwood grey.

Wove a bit on the Cricket while I was heating batches of rinse water today. Last 3 skeins of weft yarn for the Samhain themed towels are now rinsed and hanging to dry. #weaving

Wound this wee striped warp yesterday for the Cricket. Yarn is a 6-ply hemp that I dyed a couple of years ago. Now the Kromski is flipped back over into loom mode so it's ready for the towel warp. Getting a stand alone warping board is one of my hopes for the year. #weaving

All of my hand dyed warp yarn has now been wound for the Samhain themed towels! Three of my weft skeins needed 2nd layers of dye which have been applied and they are now batching. The rest are rinsed and drying. Hoping to be on loom in the next couple of days! #weaving

We always wear N95s in any indoor space outside of our home and wear them outdoors if more than a very small handful of people are gathered regardless of how recently we have had boosters.

Vaccine appointment tomorrow for Wife and I! I'm still in the throes of my latest bout of PEM & being born with an overactive immune system means I've always gotten what you might call a rather...robust immune response from vaccines anyway. Worth it ofc but the next coupla days are gonna suuuck.

It was a yarn rinsing day! These are the handpainted gradient warps I dyed on Thursday. Destined to be combined with some speckle dyed yarn for some special Samhain themed towels I will be weaving next! Yarn is 8/2 hemp/organic cotton.

BREAKING, from NY Playbook PM: New York Gov. Kathy Hochul will sign an executive order allowing pharmacists to prescribe and administer Covid vaccines to New Yorkers who request them.

Four warp chains are folded in fourths and laid out on plastic wrap on Kelli's newspaper covered dye table. The yarn is eight two hemp and organic cotton which has been hand painted in a gradient which appears as a warm purple that moves from black to medium and light values.

A skein of eight two hemp and organic cotton yarn that has previously been low water immersion dyed a light cool grey is laid out on top of plastic wrap on Kelli's newspaper covered dye table. The skein has just had dry dye powder mixed with soda ash powder applied to it giving it a speckled appearance. The speckles appear to be a cool dark purple grey and a medium warm purple.
