The House of Mirth (2000) was recommended after my earlier posts. It's quite a bit different from Blue Jasmine etc, but I can see how it's in the same vein. I'm quite enjoying it. This scene cracked it up, and the drama of who she'll choose and how she'll settle her debts is interesting, I confess.

Besides the TV show Succession, that is. But even there, Siobhan was more of a influencer than a socialite. Or at the very least, she was something in between.

Screaming for one's mother would make perfect sense, screaming for God's help too, screaming bloody murder (id est, no intelligible words at all) likewise…but “USA! USA!”? just seems evidence of complete ideological takeover of their minds even at a base level.

An interpretation that makes sense to me is to think of “USA!” as a primitive war cry. I would probably scream equally stupidly in such an emotional situation. But the fact that they default to screaming USA is a window into their minda I find interesting. Because I'm certain I wouldn't scream that.

I also wonder why right-wingers have the impulse to scream “USA! USA!” during assassination attempts. I can't help but find it funny though it's dreadfully serious. Indeed…this does only happen in the USA (USA!). Indeed…your politics are the reason why. What kind of relief does screaming USA give?

4chan is not the source of mainstream memes it once was. It remains a source for memes to niche communities, mostly far right ones, so this may be why you don't see it cited as often. I also think its userbase has almost completely turned over since 2016, i.e. almost no one posting then posts now.
