- my take: the PM should have to accept political responsibility for the phone call scandal, but her government should be removed democratically in an election, not via an undemocratic judicial intervention based on suspect legal reasoning using a logically unfalsifiable clause in the constitution

- people are questioning whether an acting PM has the competent powers to dissolve parliament and call for an early election and if the acting PM calls for a snap election this will likely be challenged in court
- this increases the chances of a political vacuum ripe for extraconstitutional meddling

- she will be the second PM removed via an "ethics" charge, which also has banned the progressive politician and once PM-designate Pita Limjaroenrat from politics
- on the very same day the court also declined to hear a case to ban the right-wing bhumjaithai party that recently quit the coalition

The intl press has mostly got it right on Paetongtarn's suspension, but a few points:
- it is bonkers to have a lawsuit over *ethics* as this is a charge that cannot be disproven logically/evidentially in trial
- if found guilty Paetongtarn will be the fifth PM in 18 years to removed by the courts

It’s quite revealing that the PM “apologized” that the phone call was leaked and not for her appeasement. She can feign the cunning negotiator and peacemaker all she wants, but the cards are shown—she got played. Policy outcomes do not care about your intentions.

I do agree that “treason” implies a criminal offense meanwhile the label “ขายชาติ” does not necessarily allege to the same degree. Maybe this is somewhat analogous to the distinctions separating murder, homicide, and manslaughter from one another?
