Stoked to see this paper finally out!

It answers two big questions: where visual objects are encoded in the brain, and how head-direction cells get oriented using visual landmarks.

Super fun collaboration with @mace-lab.bsky.social and Stuart Trenholm.

Rate and noise in human amygdala drive increased exploration in aversive learning - Nature Human exploration is driven by two distinct neural mechanisms, a valence-independent rate signal and a valence-dependent global noise signal.

This is an exquisite demonstration of using intracranial recordings in humans to validate our findings that amygdala neurons encode the value of exploring in NHPs.

New preprint! In 2014, we showed that histone variants are new regulators of memory and ever since, we wondered if histone H2A.Z contributes to Alzheimer's. Using human brains and 5xFAD mice, we found that it depends on if you're male or female. Summary below. www.biorxiv.org/cgi/content/...

Thanks Nicole! Fun story behind this one. Content was originally in another review we had been invited to write. But the journal didnt like any personal details of scientists. So we rolled it into another paper.

Title was riff on "The Heroes of CRISPR" paper many had "feelings" about at the time.
