And of course this is not to say I am always right, but more… the amount of times I read something and go, β€œsorry, you’re giving THIS a rave review??? THAT has gotten your endorsement??? You think THIS PROGRAM is bad??? Did we watch the same thing?!” - it’s enough to have me questioning my sanity.

Nothing makes me feel more gaslit than the published reviews penned by almost everyone working as television critic in Australia.

'Broad, unspoken consensus': silent Labor MPs want action on gambling Andrew Wilkie has asked the PM to allow a free vote on banning gambling advertising and it appears many Labor MPs would support it.

β€˜Labor sources have told ABC Investigations the PM’s office has been putting pressure on advocates for gambling reform within the parliamentary Labor party to prevent them from speaking up.’

Arise, Caucus MPs! You have nothing to lose but your chains!

Oh and I always liked Nino Bucci’s calm, considered, thorough wrap ups of court proceedings on the Guardian podcast.

The one exception to the rule is the 3 part doco that dropped on Stan shortly after the trial wrapped which I hit play on cynically and surprised myself by finding it informative and interesting, only to realise they hadn’t completed the final two eps. HURRY UP

When I saw Erin Patterson was going to appeal I fell to my knees & sobbed, conscious of what this would mean for the mushroom content machine.

For the love of god spare us more takes! Truman Capote himself could come back from the dead & I’d punch him in the throat if he looked twice at the case

Only realised it later and was like, wait what the HELL???

I’m so out of whack due to living in the regions and never getting cabs anymore, and when I’m visiting big cities I’m usually getting Ubers but I needed to leap into the nearest vehicle after ducking out of arrivals.

Never again, cabs!

Airport taxis are so bad I now have a pathological fear of getting one On one occasion, I felt so intimidated by a driver I was fearful the whole way home. What had I done? I’d questioned the route he was taking.

A really nice cab driver picked me up from the airport for a relatively short drive to Pitt St. I was late to an appointment, so he hurried me out the cab and grabbed my bags for me and offered the EFTPOS machine to tap and go… and I stupidly didn’t check.

$117.

Apart from a half-joking, futile yearning for her husband, I felt a kinship with Nicole. I reported on her wedding to Keith, blagging my way into his bucks' night and having a dumb fight with one of his pals over his bad jewellery.
Nic and I even had a private moment on the day. When her bridal car stopped at lights en route to the church, I was on the corner eating a Chinese takeaway, waiting for my own ride to the service.
